Opinions on rims?
2 Attachment(s)
I need new rims for the 07 and am looking for something that has a retro look to go with the look of the car.
I came across a good deal on a set of Cragar wheels. I thought these weren't made anymore but I guess they are. It seems alot of 70's muscle wore these rims back in the day. Any opinions on these? Anyone have anyother suggestions? |
If you like the retro look, go for it!! Suits the S197 body style.

What size are you looking at? Its not only the style but the size that can make or break the over all look
|
I think those look pretty good!

18's magnum 500 from wheel replica in texas about $850 set delivered to ontario.
|
i have a set of 18's on my 2000 from american racing, the shelby series in gunmetal. in all honestly i'd rather have them on a 2005+ body style but i couldn't turn down what i got.
|
I'd go 19s honestly. Or 19s on rear, 18s up front. I think that would look great on your car. But if you are buying as a set, no mixing, 19s if they have them, 18s if not.
|
19s would be perfect, but a lot of the wheel and tire manufacturers are jumping from 18 to 20 these days. It took quite a bit of searching to find 19s that I liked to put on my T-Bird SC.

well 19s would be perfect. and good look related to perfect size.

Increasing the wheel size doesn't always translate into drastic overall height increases. As far as loss of power, yeah, I thought of that...:tup

9 inch front and 10 inch rears. I was looking for 18" rims ideally as they are lighter than 20's usually and the 18" tires are cheaper than the 20". But............I cannot find a set of 18's as cheap as I can get these brand new Cragars so the extra cost for the rubber will be offset on the cheaper rim cost. Still on the fence and still looking.......... |

The height difference on these (height including tire) is next to nothing compared to my stockers. Although visually you will see much more rim and much less sidewall by going from my 17" stockers to these 20" rims. |

Got the Cragars in a week ago.
Really impressed with the quality of them. I have had many sets of aftermarket rims over the years and these are by far the best quality. The chrome is awesome on these. The center caps are real metal and bolt on so they cannot be stolen. Got 9's for the front and 10's for the rear. Now I have to get TPMS sensors and tires.........but........will have to wait until the exchange gets better.lol |
really nice rims...:tup

always did love the retro look... it's just perfect for any stang :tup

Finally got a good deal on the tires for the Cragars.
Got a set of Yokohamas. 255/35/20 for the front & 255/30/20 for the rear. Got them from Discount Tire in the US. off their ebay site. I shopped around Canada for a set and they either didn't have the sizes or wanted considerably more for them and then shipping was extra on top of that. Also got the TPMS sensors a month ago. Just need to buy the straps for the sensors and then I can mount the tires. |
I have always been a fan of Cragars :tup I like the new style but I also love the original style on certian cars :)

Wheels look great man! Wouldnt 255's be a little narrow for a 10" wheel?

I got the rims staggered. 9" for the front and 10" for the rear. The 255's are going on the front with the 285's on the rear. Should look sweet...I'll post up some pics in the spring when I put them on. |
^^^ahhh, yah 285 will be much better haha. I was just going by your post that said 255/35/20 for the front & 255/30/20 for the rear. Can't wait to see pics. What colour is your stang?

The car is satin silver. Black rims would have looked good on it too....was torn between black, anthracite, black chrome and chrome. |
^^^Can never go wrong with the bling bling :D
