Park the car aside for 6 months

Hi

I am working out of town for 6 months so no need the car. I stopped the insurance and parked it in the garage two weeks ago and now is already out of battery.

Can I leave it like that for the next 6 months or do I need to do anything? It's a 06 Mustang GT conv.

Thanks
Jirong

Did you fill the tank up and add Stabil?

I would definitely add some sort of fuel stabilizer, like Stabil, especially if you're parking it for 6 months. If you still have some room in the tank for a few gallons of gas, then I would suggest putting the Stabil in, and then filling the tank right after to ensure its mixed in the tank a bit. Also you should run your car for a bit, to ensure the mixture is completely through the entire fuel system.:tup

Trickle charger would be a good idea. Normally the battery drains on GT models because of the stereo system particularly if the radio button is left in the on position. I believe there are a few posts on this subject.

Good call on the stabil Dub. If your battery goes dead it can cause issues with your windows when opening the doors. I would hook up a battery tender and it will be fine.

Stabil FOR SURE, trickle charger, oil change - I also throw a box of Arm and Hammer inside to keep things smelling clean.

+1 on the oil change. I use bounce sheets but arm and hammer would work too.

Arm and Hammer or Bounce Sheets...never consider that. Good idea.

The bounce sheets will also keep any mice away as well! :tup
