Planning My Next Purchase

So I sold my 2007 GT500 for some investment money and it looks like I should be cashing in sometime this summer. I am throwing a few ideas around right now but if I buy another car I have a few different options and I though I'd see what you guys thought. The options I am considering are:

2012 Boss 302 LS
2000 Cobra R
2013 Boss 302 Street

One big consideration on the 2013 for me is that our dealership scored an allocation for one so I get to buy at a discounted price. I do have connections to try to find a 2012 Boss as well and as far as the Cobra R goes I guess that is an Ebay purchase. Another thing is the fact the the first 2 don't have a back seat. I do have a 1 year old and she may want to ride in it some day.

DublDee 12-28-2011 09:23 AM

Wow...I think I would be happy with any of the three! The 2000 Cobra R has always been one of my favourite stangs of all time, and probably always will be. But honestly, unless you're going for a collector car, the 2012 LS or 13' Boss' are probably the better option. They used to say there's replacement for displacement, but there actually is.....It's called technology, and the 5.0 is evidence of that IMO.

2013 GT500. It's a monster to say the least and will stomp just about anything you can find.

SNAKEBITE 12-28-2011 02:21 PM

^^^I have to agree. I could pick up a Boss for say 55 but the LS was 14g's more, so frustrating

That isn't one that I'm considering. I want to try something different. Had an 04 Cobra and an 07 GT500 already.

I will also keep an eye out for a 12 street Boss.

SNAKEBITE 12-29-2011 05:32 PM

what makes it different or is it over a normal Boss?

1low03gt 12-29-2011 05:44 PM

I wish my biggest stresses in life were like what you, and SNAKEBITE have... in deciding on your next mustang purchace LOL!!
Kidding aside, A Boss 302, 2012 or 2013.

Oh don't worry there are stresses, not financially but I have a ton of weight on my shoulders with my job. I'm leaning hard toward a Boss but have always loved the R and I know I'll never see another. When it comes to a GT500 they are around every corner, and there is more and more Bosses out there all of the time.

Here's an R in Burnaby,

I'm a huge fan of the Cobra R's. But there's no wrong answer to your dilema. :)

The R is a sweet ass car,(it's my main car i use in Forza 4 along with the '93 R :D) but the lack of extra seating like you stated makes it a hard toy to have when you want to involve the family.

ChadStang 12-29-2011 10:06 PM

Thanks for the link Ronnie, lpols like a decent price too. I've seen people add a rear seat from a GT to an R. Something to consider I guess.

SNAKEBITE 12-29-2011 10:35 PM

with just us 2 I never need a back seat same goes for the truck hence the 2 seater

SNAKEBITE 12-31-2011 12:24 AM

off topic but I have never had an iPod lol

LazerRed2002GT 12-31-2011 10:36 AM

Next car to buy?

Look at carsonline.com and check out the Mustangs. There are some new Mustang on there just to get some ideas. I was to a Mustang this summer near Wingham Ontario and some boys came out with their GT 500 Cobras
and I think I would go to the new 5.0 with all the goods . A LS will be rarer than other models, maybe a Super Snake. IMO the R style 2000 just has not got enough style from the original Mustang:wiggle:

ChadStang 01-01-2012 09:30 PM

Yeah they're a little more $$$ but well worth it, IMO.

ChadStang 01-08-2012 04:47 PM

Well I've thought long and hard about it but I decided to wait to see what 2014 brings before I jump the gun. I'll do a few things to the 02 and stick with it for now.

SNAKEBITE 01-09-2012 04:55 PM

That is probably a good idea. I am still going to check out the 13 500 and if the price is right I will be on it like a fat kid on a Smartie

ChadStang 01-09-2012 09:28 PM

^ sounds like an idea. What color are you going to look at? Black... lol

Whats with all the talk about 2015, and major changes to the Mustang? My sales guy at the local dealer said that I will likely be back to trade the '12 on a '15 when they come out, because there was going to be some drastic changes in the works??? Is He is full of it, or have you heard anything?:?

Vapor Shelby 01-10-2012 02:50 PM

IMO I would wait until late 2013 or early 2014 before pulling the trigger on a Shelby GT500.
Waiting for me would serve 2 purposes...
1.If the rumors I have heard are true (and we all know about rumors) that a reduced power output and a global platform is going to appear in 2015. I would jump on the 2014 Shelby! After all, you will have 1 year passed to iron out all of the kinks of the 5.8 Trinity engine if there are any, and walk away with the most powerful, refined Shelby there is!
2. You will be seeing leaked pictures with power stats in early 2014, this would give you a pretty good informed opinion on if the 2015 is worth waiting for! It may be even better, but I really doubt it will have the same shape with iconic front grill and massive gobs of power we seem to expect that comes from the Shelby name plate.
That's my plan, I will be either driving a late 2014 classic shaped power house Shelby, or a 2015 50th anniversary Global IRS SVT Cobra! Have to wait and see!

SNAKEBITE 01-10-2012 04:13 PM

just to many decisions lol
