Power windows on '08 s197's

As we all know the s197's have a feature that allows the window to slightly open when the doors are opend and vise versa. The question is: Can this be disabled? If so how?

Reaper 12-13-2008 10:46 PM

Why would you want to disable it? It's my understanding, that it's there to minimize the wear and tear on the weatherstripping.

no paticular reasons just a good to know incase kinda thing.

i dont think the door will close with the window all the way up anyways...
it goes down and then tucks back up...

unless i'm mistaken
maybe i should look at mine more carefully.. lol

It does close when its up.
It would be nice to know in case one would have to drive in the winter. Would be hard on the motor if the window was froze.

so far.. its been working fine in the winter.. and i hope it keeps up that way :)

if you do find a way to deactivate it.. let me know.. maybe it would be good for the winter..

I just went through this. My battery died in the car and the window was stuck in the up position. The door opened fine (or maybe I just forced it open without realizing). But definitely would not close properly. I'm lucky I didn't bust the window.

I realize that as well with mine it opens fine however you have to slightly push the window in first before closing it.

i've noticed on my passenger door that when i close it sometimes the plastic piece by the side mirror rubs when closing.... any suggestions of what might be causing this?

just thought i'd ask since we're on the topic of windows for 05+

Me too. I have to press slightly on the top part of the window when closing. What are you doing New Years Eve. Me - a walk. Fri, Sat the misses and I are staying in Banff:biggrin:

Shannon's sister and brother in-law drove here from Vancouver. We invited some of our other friends to the house, had drinks, played cards, it was pretty good. Hope Banff was awesome!

checked my car yesterday battery was dead. drivers window does not go up and down the 1/2 inch like it should now that i have recharged the battery ,passenger side door works fine any ideas anyone?

I don't have any solutions on the window thing but I was told when I bought the car that the window goes up and down when you open/close the door.

So, if you store it during the winter make sure you pop the hood and leave it that way so if the battery dies during storage you can just open the hood and charge the battery without having to get inside the car to get at the hood release.

I looked at the guy like he was retarded but I guess he was right!
