Question about back spacing

We want to put Weld's on the 83 GT but we're unclear on the backspacing.

We want the wheels to tuck under the fender, not stick out.

Does anyone know the proper backspacing?

I just bought brand new Weld Draglites and have 5.5 for the back and 2 and a quarter for the front.

I didnt know you have an 83 steve... if you dont want the rim to stick out the fender and your going with a 10 inch wide rim like a draglite or pro star I would highly reccomend a 6.5 inch backspacing rim, 5.5 will stick out too much and your car will look like a camaro

(Its also what I have on my car)

Well my tires are mounted and rims on the car. There's no back spacing issues at all.the tires sit under the car front and back................... :tup
