Here is an answer that you would get on most modular motor powered websites...... :thumb1:

And believe me it isn't really that bad,i know,i had 3.73's previously, and wish i went to the 4.10's from the start : .
4.10's in a modular = 3.73's in a 5.0L
3.37's in a modular = 3.55's in a 5.0L ....ects.The modulars aren't the best in the torque portion,so to make up the torque, you need gear.A lot of the modular powered drag racers go 4.30's or greater, and for street driven and occassional strip guy,4.10's is 99.8 % recommended. But it is your ride, and you know what you want out of her,so basically...go with what you are comfortable with. :thum:

Talking

373 are the recommended for the mustang. 410 are to tall and it would be very hard driving it on the highway and reving below 4500RPM's

4500rpm? Must be running 4.95s (if they exist), the only way any 'stang would be running 4500rpm on the highway is if it's doing 180+, which most of us don't do. I agree with 1LOW03GT, 4.10s are good for a 4.6-hell, the Terminators came with 3.55s stock! 4.10s all the way unless you're on the highway all day, every day.

Someone correct me I'm wrong, but NPI 4.6's make their power at about 4500RPM, very similar to 5.0's. Unless a PI upgrade is in the future, I would not recommend 4.10s. 3.73's are probably what I'd go with.

That is the recommandation for the 5.0L years, not the 4.6L era. :thumb1:
Comparing the 5.0 to the 4.6 is like apples to oranges, they are two very different engines from one another. The 5.0 is a torque monster, and don't rev high, the 4.6 don't make big torque, and rev pretty high, which is why you need gear for the 4.6.I'm not an expert, but i have owned a 5.0L for 6 years, and modded the out of,and now the 4.6 for 4 years, modding the out of it.So having the two,i've learned quite a bit.
The 4.6 really don't work/pull until they hit 3000 rpm on,but the 5.0 works basically right off idle, which is why you really don't want big gear for the 5.0L,unless you have an engine that operates in higher rpm's.
On the highway with my '03 GT with 4.10's,i rev at 2600/2800 rpm at around 120/125 i believe...in 5th gear, and to me,that really isn't that bad. :2: :teeth:

4.10 minimum. Personally, I'd go 4.30.
