Running no belt is very bad because your alternator isn't charging the car at all and by the time you get to the top end you could lean the fuel pump out or if your running msd it could also be bad. If you want extra power just run a short belt that bypasses power steering, a/c & smog pump.

Your poll allows you to vote for both  It's not a good thing to run without the belt.

I think it's not the greatest idea. Once you have under drive pullies and a short belt the losses by the waterpump don't make that much of a difference. However, I've seen a car pop the belt and pick up 5tenths and 5mph....stock pullies and all accesories though.

I did it on of my motor passes...

I ran the best MPH ever (on the motor anyways) with a 103MPH and a 1.9 60'ft with the belt off...

ONLY do it if you have an electric fan though.

It depends on your battery and the time you actually run without it during the pass. This includes the time you sit & wait before making the pass, during the burnout, possibly following a car down the return road, etc... and it all matters. Best case scenerio is a quick pass (no waiting wihile running) follwed by shutting down in the top end to put the belt back on.

Did it last weekend and picked up 3 tenths and 3mph. The decent gain came from eliminating all the accessories including air & power steering.
