Shelby Track Day

Got a great call today. Going to the track for the first time. Read below

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today.

We are thrilled to invite you to participate in this fun day at the track with your Shelby. The details of the event are listed below. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. As spots are limited and filling fast, please confirm your participation asap. Thank you

When?: Sunday August 9th

Where?: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s Driver Development Course or DDC.

What?: DriveTeq Integrated Motorsport Resources will deliver a best practices Advanced Driver Training Program for the Team Shelby Day at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s Driver Development Course (DDC) on August 9th, 2015. Safety will be our primary objective. FUN and education will be our ultimate goals. The Program will benefit Team Shelby by providing each guest driver with a positive emotional memory associated with a day at the track. DriveTeq can produce a short video memory of the event for all participants for distribution via You Tube.(additional low cost may apply).

1. Your day will look like this:

Begin the program with a 45 minute classroom presentation to track novices covering-

a. Automotive vision – using eyes properly

b. Grip/Adhesion – where the tire meets the road

c. Vehicle Dynamics

d. Steering – 5 ways

e. Cornering – different angles

f. Seating & wheel position

g. Smoothness

h. Safety

2. Event Time:

a. 8am arrival to coffee and continental breakfast

b. Driver meeting 8:45am

c. Classroom at 9:00am

d. Exercises and track until 12:30pm

e. BBQ lunch from 12:30-1:30pm

f. Track until 4:30pm with a short debrief afterwards.

3. Format - 3-run group program -

a. Novice Program includes the followings:

i. Classroom Theory – understanding the fundamentals of car control

ii. Supervised In-car Practise – experiencing car control and exploring your limits in a safe environment

iii. Skills Focus – Vision, grip, car dynamics, braking, cornering and skid control (use water truck)

b. Intermediate to Advanced Program includes the following:

i. Review & discussion

ii. Practise advanced driving techniques like visual vectoring, multi-input steering, G. loading, trail-braking, transitioning, and heel & toe shifting

iii. Lapping for qualified drivers with formal track experience

Given that this is the first event, there may be 2 groups of novices with the third group comprised of intermediate and advanced drivers – all depends on the drivers’ experience

4. Safety -instructors (DriveTeq responsibility), marshals (DriveTeq responsibility), and EMS (track responsibility) to be present

5. Driver:Instructor ratio - 2:1, follow-the-leader in-car on-track format for drivers with their own Shelby

7. Water truck – essential skidpad training to teach car control and grip

8. Hospitality – Continental breakfast, BBQ lunch, and beverages organized and executed by the track

Oh man, thats awesome to be able to get out on the safety of a track and let that thing perform. So much better than risking getting impounded or being silly on the street. What a great opportunity!

Renee, it looks like I'm going to be out there as well. St. Thomas Ford SVT, who are also involved with this along with Donway Ford, Summit Ford, and your dealership, are co-owned by one of the people who also co-own Parkway Ford where I'm at ... and some spots were available still.

cheers
