Shifter ****

Ever since I installed my FR leather wrap shift ****, its been loose and able to move, If I turn it so that its on tight its facing the wrong way. No matter where I have it facing when I start to screw it on it ends up in this position. With the stock shifter this was fine but now with the Tri Ax that I installed on the weekend I moves as I shift and I hate that. Anyone have any tips on how I can get it to stay where I want and be tight?

There is a pic of the **** at the end of this photo page I put together as I was installing the shifter

only thing i can think of is, that the handle is on backwards, but from the picture its not.

can you twist it around another half rotation?
what about locktite?

That is strange for a FRPP **** to do that.

I would suggest taking it off and wrapping the threads on the handle with some teflon tape (you know the white stuff you use for plumbing, etc...).
Put on as much as you need to make it tighter and you should be ok.

put a nut on first, then screw the shifter on to where you want it. tighten the nut up to the shifter. should do the trick

try using a washer or two and crank it down.

ditto - i've done the same thing on a stock shifter that was cut and welded to make it a short shifter, also helps keep it from being over tightened

You could also trim a thread or two off the handle to make the shifter bottom on a different position.
