SLP exhaust?

Does anyone on here have an "SLP loudmouth" cat back system on thier Mustang? Or has anyone actually heard how they sound in person?
I can not even find a sound clip of them? anyway..
I have always read that they are loud but who do you believe unless you or someone has heard them or is using them.
Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Bubba_Lane 12-27-2004 10:08 PM

they dont have mufflers just resonators and i heard them not even two days ago, really loud!

techrtm 12-28-2004 12:59 AM

We offer these! and Lane is Correct SLP uses Shotgun Resonators.

Similar to Magnaflow Magna Pack and Borla Stingers.

There is a Segment of the Market that demanded a deeper more aggressive tone/sound then the Likes of Bassani/Magnaflow etc were offering!

With Headers/Cats they sould pretty damm good!
without Cats you will lose your hearing and get your divorce papers in the mail! :D

O.G 12-28-2004 12:01 PM

Sorry , But have you ever cut a Loudmouth "resonator" open ..... I have and I know that on the Camaro/Trans Am Loudmouth Systems ..... That Resonator is completely hollow ...... The Magnaflow Magnapacks have some Sound Suppression material at least

Rick

gfong 12-28-2004 12:22 PM

Okay, so I take it that they are loud. :)

I can also see that some do not like them. Why or why not? Are they legal in Canada?
What I am looking for is a CAT back system that is loud. I am going to keep the stock headers and h pipe on.

From what I have read about them on the internet, is that you either love em or hate em. Seems to be true on here also. :)
Good or bad keep the comments coming on the SLP please. the more info I have the easier it will be to make my mind up. thanks.

techrtm 12-28-2004 05:19 PM

Nope never sliced one open. But a resonator is a resonator hollow!

Magnapack I suppose is considered an absorption muffler because it has some deadening material if you want to get technical. The average Joe would say it looks and sounds like a resonator

STINGER
SLP
MAGNAPACK

However when it comes to SOUND! all the above are a different pitch and amplitude then your off the shelf Friction Muffler.

Saying this and using the three examples of what you put down, In your opinion would you say that the SLP is the loudest? Remeber I am not changing out the stock h pipe, just CAT back.
And if the loudest how do they rate or compare to one another.
Loud does not always mean better. What about sound quality?
I have never heard one of these and the rate I am going will have to get one myself so that I can hear them. :)
After this reply I think the subject should be about dead for me, again thanks for the time and advice.
Which ever one I go with I will ensure that I check your prices and others on here so that I can compare to what I can get them here in Ontario for.

Bubba_Lane 12-28-2004 06:52 PM

yes slp is the loudest

nitrous 12-28-2004 10:09 PM

if you wanna be really loud i say you gotta lose the cats...

gfong 12-29-2004 07:58 AM

Thanks guys, I will try them out in spring and see how they work. Appreciate the feedback.

and.... really loud is after the car has some miles on it and the 3 year warranty is up. :tup

I have a flowmaster system and it is pretty loud... nice and throaty is you like that kind of stuff. I did not put the system on but I'm on the fence whether or not to keep it on. The drone @ 2000 RPM is killer.

Go to Flowmasters website the have lots of sound clips there.

What is the attration to the system you mention?

I have heard a few on cameros and like them, On the regisrty seems a lot like the SLP also. I have heard a clip of them on a mach and tjey sound really nice. Price and stainless steel and loud is what is attracting me. I have a link on the canadianmustangs.com site with a 4 meg vid of them on a Mach1 like ours. The sound clip is what finally sold me. :tup

What are you going to switch out to on yours?

I'm not sure this point. I may just try swapping out the mufflers, I have also looked in baffles for the tips but the Flowmaster tips are short so that does not seem like a option.

I may look at magnaflow but have to do some more research.

I may just put a stock system back on for now... the drone is a bit much for me.

Yea, I am not sure if the SLP have the dreaded aftermarket drone. Guess I will have to find out the hard way. :bang

Did your cat back system increase your HP at all? Besides the drone why would you want to go back to stock?

Only the drone... too bad... otherwise I think the sound is awsome...I turn heads everywhere I go!

Don't know about the HP increase, never had it on a dyno... we'll see this spring!

j-roc 01-13-2005 03:21 PM

I had Flowmaster 40's and loved the aggressive sound but also grew tired of the drone. I recently put on a Magnaflow catback and really happy with the quaity and sound. There is zero drone and it's quieter than the Flowmasters but has a nice deep tone and sounds great when you put your foot in it. Just took a bit of time to adjust the tailpipes so clearance was perfect. Also, because it is a straight through design it does add a few ponies unlike just sound with most chambered mufflers.

BIG THUMBS DOWN to SLP LM exhaust - my brother has their cat-back on his 02 GT with BBK LT headers - car sounds like a tractor - mufflers are being replaced with flowmaster 2-chambers (already purchased) this spring

Even if you decide to replace them, you can get a set of Flow's installed for about $280 :)
