They are legal for one simple reason. They really are not smoked. They just look smoked do to the fact that the main headlight unit is painted black(where the reflected area of the '99 to '00 are chrome). The lenz is clear. The black background in the headlight gives off the illussion of it being smoked. That is how ford can get away with the "smoked headlight" theme.
Someone i talk to on the net gave me the info as he did the amber reflecter delete, and brought it up in a conversation. :)
But you can buy a set off true smoked headlights where the lenz is smoked in the aftermarket. Now would that be legal. :bleh:

I'd be surprised if they figured it out...cause its doesnt stand out at all...but I'm sure somone may have caught on...oh well...this is just something I heard...also v6/gt verts had sub frame connectors (only bolted on)...again...just what I heard...lol

dunno if you wanna call it a subframe connector and i don't know if it's different on newer ones but my 85 had these massive steel frames along the bottom of the door....must of added as much or more rigidity as a subframe connector by the look of it, and they weren't bolted in...they were part of the car.
