SNAKEBITE 09-07-2011 04:40 PM

So who's thinking

Anyone put away the toy/toys or are you starting to think about it. How many k's did you folk put on the car this season. I actually put on 1000 k but 2 highway trips accounted for approximately 700 of those. I only see taking the car out once more for the High River show and while doing this I can top up the tires fuel and Stabil. Until next year:D

johnny5 09-07-2011 05:22 PM

mines already put away.

SNAKEBITE 09-07-2011 06:05 PM

wow someone beat me congrats lol

thunderbolt 09-07-2011 06:22 PM

Goes to "sleep" after Thanksgiving

VAEM 09-07-2011 06:32 PM

Hoping to keep mine out until JUST before the snow falls. LOL

1low03gt 09-07-2011 06:37 PM

Been thinking about it myself. As for k's, i roughly put a tad over 2000 kilometers so far.
Glad to see you enjoyed yours this year Paul LOL!

roddy 09-07-2011 07:22 PM

I drive mine on nice days until I see the first grain of salt on the road. Then it's all over 'til at least April. The car averages about 10k/year.

Ray Spencer 09-07-2011 07:27 PM

I usually wait until the 1st snowfall....now that the mustang is in West Kelowna that might be the end of November instead of Halloween night in Edmonton. I think I put about 2000 k's on the mustang this year.

Ronnie06GT 09-07-2011 09:01 PM

I typically run it till mid October, OR hint of first snow, whichever comes first. I put on 1400 km's this year.

green pony 09-07-2011 10:05 PM

Good god folks, these cars are meant to be driven, I put on almost 11000 Kms. in one trip this year following Route 66 from beginning to end. Show them off to the rest of the world.

Vapor Shelby 09-08-2011 06:56 AM

Since I bought the Shelby in July, I have 3200 kms on her! I'm less picky over dirt, dust, and driving in the rain simply due to the colour! Vapor silver is a great hiding colour much better than RedFire.
I don't want think of placing it in storage, that will be a sad day. However, full coverage insurance expires Nov 1when fire and theft takes over so it's approaching fast  Over the winter down time I will start a few planned mods

slvrblit 09-08-2011 08:19 AM

Mine will be out until the morning that I wake up and see snow on the ground! The joy of having a beater insured at the same time lol.
I think I've only put about 4000kms on it this year. No major highway trips, really just cruising around town.

Next year on the other hand.....it'll get some miles!

DublDee 09-08-2011 10:21 AM

I'm hoping to get another month yet, but hey I'm on the prairies, so it could be 25 degrees one day, and snow the next, so we'll see. Anyway if I get another month, I should have around 3000 km's put on this season. And I will be using Stabil. Anybody using anything different for storing over the winter?

SNAKEBITE 09-08-2011 12:11 PM

Hey 1low I have put approx 300 less on the odo than the fist 2 seasons were I did 1300k's each year. To those that say drive them I can tell you that every day of the week I travel anywhere from 200-300 k's PER DAY in the city. Who in the hell needs to come home and drive the toy after that. lol

1low03gt 09-08-2011 07:05 PM

Nice Paul! Maybe next year a few more k's LOL!

I drive mine time permitting. Having a family of five, and a wife that works evenings, and some nights, the daddy roll takes priority. When we only had our oldest, it was easier. The first two years i put 12,000 to 13,000 kilometers each summer. The next few summers was close to 10,000. Then after that things got a tad buisier, and the GT was driven less, and less.

SNAKEBITE 09-09-2011 07:51 PM

Less $$$$ in upkeep is the bonus with that scenerio lol

VAEM 09-09-2011 07:53 PM

LMAO ... Paul, you always find the good in any situation - a real "glass half full" kinda guy. :)

Abby Morel 09-09-2011 11:48 PM

*Grin* at Snakebite.
I'll drive Baby 'till her insurance runs out. Then, she'll go back into her "Stang Cave" (sob)
But, I've found that she's just too low and wide and too wide-tired to handle our winter roads. (Or, maybe she has a crush on the tow-truck. :D ) Or, she likes to play in the ditch in the winter. I dunno.
that'll give me 'til halfway through October.
Drive safe, everyone.
Abby

SNAKEBITE 09-10-2011 01:46 AM

^^^Nice thing here is any of the guys with my type insurance can drive it whenever the roads permit. I pay under 500.00 all in

PEGASIX 09-10-2011 11:51 PM

6,000km on the mustang since may 24
14,000km on the focus since may 24
and i daily beat a focus station wagon.
mustang will be away in the next week or 2 and he svt focus will be on the road until LATE oct / mid nov or till snow falls either or

ChadStang 09-11-2011 12:11 AM

I drove mine quite a bit around town this year but didn't hit the highway at all unfortunately due to a few different factors so I think I only did about 500 kms. I usually start looking to put mine away after thanksgiving but if the weather hold out I run it a little longer.

SNAKEBITE 09-11-2011 05:58 AM

it's 4am and I am considering going to a show around 9am, probabely not lol

herbz 09-12-2011 12:11 PM

This winter the Stang isn't going to bed. It's going to a winter home. Late October or Early November I'm driving it to Phoenix. We've got a place down there and renting cars every time we fly down is getting pricey. Its just sits in the garage up here, at least it'll get driven down there. Only put 5000km's on it this summer, its only got 18,000k total 4 in summers.

Red Stang 09-12-2011 04:47 PM

I continue to drive and enjoy mine through the winter as long as its not raining or snowing. There will be a few weeks that it gets to stay home and i take my Edge Sport. So far this year i have put on about 10,000 kms. I am with Green Pony. I like to drive it. However, i am thinking of a winter car to save it a little bit more.

Make sure you look into insurance before you do this. Most insurance companies will only allow your vehicle in another country for less than 6 months per year. To buy american insurance you would have to import the car there. I've seen a few people run into this and one guy had to drive his stang back from Vegas.

SNAKEBITE 09-12-2011 05:50 PM

I have a buddy that goes south every year I will ask him for details herbz

SNAKEBITE 09-21-2011 08:09 PM

decided today is the last day for the year, time for it to go into hibernation

1low03gt 09-21-2011 08:16 PM

Soon for my GT, but not yet. Need to make it out to the track one more time as the air gets cooler.

Just drive fast and people won't notice if it's dusty and you will never notice it either from in the car.

southfour 09-23-2011 02:36 PM

Im keeping mine out until the first snowfall.

Then it comes back out sometime in April

Car was winter driven by the PO for 9 winters so a little snow wont hurt it

BLKnRD09GT 09-23-2011 03:52 PM

I'm getting ready to put it away, probably the end of September or so. Would normally have had it out till the end of October, but it's not being driven. Long story short, had an accident ( can't drive...yet) June 1st and wifey doesn't like driving it. No, the accident wasn't in the Stang. She's/we've had it out about 4 times since the accident....maybe. Likely less than 1,000 ks on it this year.
So, how was your summer. :boohoo:

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you are all healed up for next season. My summer sucked too but luckily I wasn't injured in any way.

Haha. That's impressive for someone of your......ummm.....age. No nice way to say it.

BLKnRD09GT 09-24-2011 12:00 AM

^^^ Now that's not nice, maybe a little funny, but still not nice. But having thought about it a little more, that age crack hits too close to home.
 Humph !

Thanks ChadStang. Your summer sucked pretty good as well. Hope things have turned the corner and you and the town are on the road to recovery.
(hope this doesn't derail)
