sport mode

Can someone explain what the sport mode is and what it does and when I would want to use it? I know how to put the car in it, but all the owner's manual says is it's for "more spirited driving".

Yes more spirited, but when the car senses you're going from fun to dangerous, the fun is all over and traction control kicks in.

Actually sports mode turns traction control completely off, it doesn't however shut off stabiltrac completely. You can pretty much spin your tires full out but if you get too sideways the stabilitrac will shut you down.
To completely shut off both traction control and stabilitrac you have too hit the button once to shut off traction control, then hold the button down with your foot on the break (you must be stopped) for 6 seconds, then it will say stabilitrac off on the display and you can get as sideways as you want.
Also I've found that while you are driving you can tap the break quickly while hitting the button twice and voiala your in sport mode without having to be stopped!

Let's just hope that you have a performance driving school under your belt if you plan to turn the Stabilitrak off with 400+hp.

cheers

Thanks Ed I'm just in learning mode right now and being quite cautious as I learn my car....but so very impressed every time I put the peddle down. Yes, those tires spin without much effort. Went to the armdropdragracing event (the one bmezz mentioned on another thread) and watched and listened to what the other drivers were doing at launch.....through the water, only rear tires through the water, burn-out, no burn-out, torque, no torque, peddle to the floor, some not. Everyone seemed to have their own preference.

Is it better for the car to turn off the Advance Trac (both traction control and stability control) rather than using sport mode?

Is it better? Do you mean for your drag times or for the car mechanically?
Maybe someone else could chime in but having it on or off or in sport mode shouldnt hurt the car at all mechanically.

As for drag racing off would be best if you can launch without spinning too bad. I've read of guys turning it off After they launch but never raced myself so can only go by what I've read.
