Sync 3 V2.2 now available

Anyone who has been waiting for this update can now download the files from the Ford Owners site. Enables Android Auto and Apple Car Play and updates some other things like the splash screen on some vehicles. Need a new usb Hub for Apple however to use Car Play.:banghead:

Happy updating:tup

I have no idea what you just said......lol, techno-Neanderthal here.

milner_7 04-27-2017 08:22 PM

umm it updates your Sync system to the latest version. You can have your phone display on your screen in the car and use the audio program and google maps etc instead of the Sync stuff.

Apocalypse Pony 04-27-2017 08:24 PM

OK, but I have no idea how you get it from the Ford Owners site to the car....or where you even find it on the Ford Owners site. lol

milner_7 04-27-2017 08:25 PM

LOL AP that's funny, I am a techie so I was looking forward to this.

Apocalypse Pony 04-27-2017 08:28 PM

Right, I'm not. So....I can download it from where to where ???

You go here Welcome to Ford Owner | Official Ford Owner Site
register your car then download the update under here SYNCŪ Help & Vehicle How To's | Official Ford Owner Site

Go to Check for Software Updates

Follow the instructions

Alternatively if your car is connected to your wifi account it can be updated over the air.

Clear as Mud?

Thanks for posting up the links and info, sounds cool.

All that worrying for nothing....easy peasy two hour download and installed no prob, thanks Mike.

Interesting to be registered on the Ford Owners site, I pulled the complimentary oil filter wrench recall too.

No problem:tup The download takes about 15/20 min and the install another 15/20 minutes. The site is pretty handy. I have been using it since my First Mustang.

The updated Sync software has some cool new features. The New Splash Screen on the Touch Screen is cool, now says Ford Performance at start up and shutdown.

I don't know what "bugs" you have or what version your running. As far as ios that's a different topic. As I said in my first post a new USB hub is required for Apple Car Play. Android users are good to go

Sync was full of bugs & Ford said they didn't know the causes.

Stupid question, but thats never stopped me before...why does Apple Car Play require a new hub?

My existing firewire plugs in and attaches my iphone5 perfectly. It baffles me why you'd need to swap it out for something that looks exactly the same, and does the same job.

Ford was obviously aware , because the part number I quoted from the US site is a Ford part.

On a side note, SYNC works like butt with my iPod, I'll call up a playlist and get another playlist COMPLETELY different. Obviously Microsoft has no interest in making things easy for Apple. lol

That's a good question and I do not know the answer. I do know however that Sync is no Longer a Microsoft program. I am a Android guy and my Android Auto is working perfectly. The only issue I am having is reporting the successful install on the Ford owner site.
