Look just don`t tint them too dark,.... and personally I think tinted lights look better then the actual covers,......
then again why not just buy smoked rear lights,.... they look even better,... and less hassle.

according to the cop who made me remove mine off my modded Ford Ranger back in the mid 1990s....it had nothing to do with whether you could see the "lights" through them....which you obviously can
apparently, the tinted covers make the tail lights lose their "reflective" quality....and that's the no-no
basically - if you got rear-ended while running tail-light covers, they could swing the blame on you.....which would suck major cack because 99.9% of the time, the tard that rear-ends you is to blame
