Tires from the US
Hey guys, I needed 2 315/35/17 tires for my rear and I had a hard time finding anything reasonably priced here in Canada (as usual).
I ended up making contact with the Tire Rack in Indiana. They ship to Canada and when they quote you it is all inclusive (incl. tax, duty, shipping). I got a pretty good deal on the tires. I emailed them, they gave me a quote and they called me to get my c/c info to save me the long distance bill when I was ready to order. Not bad service! If anyone else is in the same need for tires here is the guys email address. colin@tirerack.com rockon: |
Good to hear!
So when they get to your door, fedex/UPs wont charge you extra? Thats a plus:) |
Yes, all the fees were upfront so when it shows up all I do is sign for it.
After I paid he sent me a confirmation by email and all the fees (duty, etc) were listed on the invoice. |

Got the tires this morning. Would have received them probably Wednesday but a storm on Monday screwed that.
Can't wait until spring............... |
AWW, you bought sumitomos....
They are not a bad tire for the price. I think i have the ones a step of from them. HTRZ II. not bad traction, wet or dry. I think ill buy from them next time i need tires. :) |
Yeah, for $98.00 each you're bloody right I bought Sumi's...lol. For the price I couldn't turn it down.
I had a set of them before and never had any problems with them whatsoever so I didn't mind. I know they are not Goodyear Eagle F-1's ($439.00 us each) but my car is a garage queen and only comes out on nice sunny days so they are perfect for me. Have a good one! |
I have Sumi's too and I love them........Had Goodyears and the Sumi's are just as good and they are a better bang for the buck....Wise choice

Well I bought new rims too from the us.
I sold the Cobra R's I had on the car. I wanted a wider tire in the rear and like the look of the deep dish. I could get a 17X10.5 Cobra r but not in deep dish (you can get r's in deep dish but they have rivets and wouldn't match the fronts). I ordered some chrome FR500 rims from AM. The 2 17X9's were fine but one of the 10.5's had 4 bubbles in the chrome. You could also actually see the grooves in the chrome too where the rim was machined when it was made. The other 10.5 was flawless. Anyway, I emailed them about the problem and they sent out another rim the same day. Hopefully they checked this one before they sent it though. |
Would a 255/40/18 fit on a 05-08 Mustang GT with a stock optional tire size of 235/35/18 ?
|
I'm not sure of the size you listed.
As far as I know the 05/08 GT has a stock size of 235/55/17 with an optional size of 235/50/18. I think you would have problems running the 255/40/18 as the diameter will be off by over 4%. This link might help. www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp |
