Tune Up

I am sort of in the middle of some maintenance and a tune up of the car. I bought it in May and I have reached the 5000kms mark since buying it. Tomorrow I am getting the oil changed, and I will be putting in New plugs and wires. I have also put a K&N Filter in. What are some of the other things I should look at doing as part of maintenace on the car. Its a 2002 Mustang v6, 5 spd with 84,000kms

Some of this would be a good idea too. It's what I always put in before storing for the winter but no harm in doing it on a regular basis (every 5000km)

Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant With Injector Cleaner
Formulated for both gasoline and diesel engines
Cleans and lubricates the fuel system
Neutralizes low sulphur fuel problems
Increases the life of pumps and injectors
Increases power and efficiency by burning excess exhaust
Model No. 10020

There's a much bigger bottle in the store.

So I called my local ford dealership about the fuel filter, and they have some tune up package that they do, so I brought the car over for its oil change and I am getting them to do as part of the tune up deal, installings my plugs and wires, new fuel filter, and cleaning the injectors. Its gonna cost a bit more the just doing parts of it myself but it gives me piece of mind that pretty much everything has been addressed since I bought the car used and didnt know what had been done.

Dealerships make their money by recommending services you don't generally need.

I was once recommended to get a power steering fluid flush on the Cobra...............

Ask lots of questions about what they are actually doing and make sure you go watch them actually do it. I get my oil changes at the dealership but never leave the car and more than 50% of the time I have to remind them what to do as part of what I paid for the oil change package. Checking/filling the fluids for example and lubricating parts, etc.
