What threads are the seatbelts in a vintage mustang?
THinking of throwing a threaded backing plate into my 67 fastback before I finish up the body, and wondering what thread it was? Actually, more importantly, I'm wondering where they go.. I heard there were provisions for shoulder belts starting in 67 (But not installed on cars until 68), and I see 3 sets of holes above the door.. One at the very rear, another about 6" forward, and then another set.. I don't want to cover up the headliner holes obviously, but I'm sure one of those holes can be used.. The very rear set of holes has a rectangular hole beside them? Thanks
Heya.. Yeah, I think I found earlier tonight that they are 7/16 20.. but my tap won't go through an old one nicely, so I don't want to risk it.. But what I really don't want to risk is welding in a seatbelt bracket where th eheadliner or something else is supposed to go..

I'll just go out in my driveway and slash Ed's Cougar's headliner and take a look at his '68's shoulder belts!!!

This is a good article for a home made retro fit. It's in a coupe but the FB will be pretty similar. Stu
You mean the #2 whole (a?!
) .. What is the one I labelled #1 then? Looks to be bigger than the other headliner holes.. Actually, looks to be a mirror image of #2 (Big hole with a smaller one beside it).. Does that mean I can cover up the smaller hole beside #2, or is that necessary for the headliner as well?
