what year mustang to buy

Hi looking at 2103 and 2012 mustang V6 stick, can anyone tell me whats better, I know there is updates on 2013 not sure what they all are other than new LED tail lights HID front lights, looks like a different steering wheel and I hear a new hill assist and other things, which make me want 2013 but I like the front facia of the 2012 it looks sharper, any thing better about reliability or other issues for 2013, thanks for input I am in Barrie Ontario, also is it good in the winter, thanks

They both have the same power train. The only differences are cosmetic. The hood and rear facia are different.

Depends on what cosmetics and accessories you want.

The price, the newer you go, the more it will cost you.

If you like the front of the 2012 better get that and add this:

2013 Factory Tail Light Conversion Kit (10-12 All) - Free Shipping

Best of both worlds :tup

thanks all for info, anything in particular I should be aware of with the Mustangs. anything at all, anyone know about the hill assist on the stick models, all these upgrades on the 2013 and up I hope work well, guess more to go wrong and more costly, eg: hid tail lights etc... thanks again cheers

Buy what you want, not what people say you should want. Pretty wide open if you ask me, I don't think you'll be disappointed any way it works out, just find one that fits the budget. Winter tires and wheels are always a good idea, along with some weight in the trunk, don't forget rustproofing like Krown or Rust Check.

I agree with AP. I personally am a fan of the 13-14 body style and the upgrades such as track apps and the LCD screen.

Sounds like the OP is thinking of a 2015 now.

I would think with the 2015 out now, good deals can be had with 2012-2014 models that folks want to trade. These cars drive great, and the V6 is a peppy engine.
Personally from previous experience I like a totally new model to have a year or two under it's belt before I plunk down my cash. If it's just small mods made to a model that's fine, but not a whole car. They usually have some real world design issues that pop up and can deflate the new car/model experience as they run around trying to find a fix.
YMMV

I own a 2012 V6 with the performance package and I love it. I drive it year round and haven't had too many problems in the winter. I live in Halifax where there are plenty of hills and you have to plan your routes accordingly. With snow tires the car handles fine in the snow but it, like every other RWD vehicle it has it's limits. The traction control works great but if you have to start up a snow covered hill without a run on, you won't make it but you'll get used to avoiding being in that situation. to put it into perspective for you in Barrie, if you had to climb the hill by Hooters from a stopped position in the snow, you probably wouldn't make it. (I was posted to Borden)

As for the differences between the 12 and 13/14, I don't think there is any difference mechanically at all. but the newer models had more interior features along with different taillights and front end. Personally I prefer the 12 front end and I like the Taillights on the 13 but I bought the taillight splitters from American Muscle and I like mine better now.

I've got 96000 kms on mine now and the only issue I've had is I had to replace the rear sway bay links a couple of weeks ago but no other issues at all.

If you would like, I have an electronic copy of the 2013 and 14 Canadian brochure and I have the paper version for the 12. Just PM me with your email and I'll send copies and a scan of the 12 pamphlet. Just let me know.

Buy what you want, it's you're money.
