Whats a MAF sensor?
im curious as to what a maf sensor does and why everyone gets bigger ones? and whats the stock maf size on GT's?
|
its a sensor the reads air flow , temp , and sends the info to the computer to analize , fuel and timing and adjust as required......... i think lol

For your mods a 80mm C&L mass air would be perfect. A 90mm is WAY overkill for your car and could possibly hurt performance.
As for tuning as long as you get the 19lb injector Sample tube you don't need to change your tune at all, the comp will correct for it. I loved my Mass air, great mod really smoothed the power out in my cars (both my 93GT and my 03 Mach) If i were you buy the 90mm when you buy the rest of your blower kit, then sell the old 80mm and get your money back. Good luck |
what do u mean by the sample tube?? ashamed: .. arent the stock ones 19lb?

but save your money.....you don't need it right now I ran a stock MAF until this year (went to a 90mm from a 70mm).....and ran the stock MAF with the KB at 6psi with 36lb injectors I couldn't give you an accurate/technical description for why....but suffice to say the stocker was sufficient.....while the 90mm was optimum if you think swapping to a bigger MAF while NA will give you automatic HP....it won't....a bigger MAF is all about capacity within the tune, and it's needed when your combo depends on it ....your's doesn't at this point save your money |
im just trying to peice to gether the cheapper parts i need for my kenne bell.. so im trying to get everyhthing seperate so i dotn have to spend big bucks on the hole kit..
but i was hopping that the bigger maf would give me a bit more power tell i get the actually supercharger.. seems like it wont make a diffrence to have it put on now :frown: |

mope: damn i guess ill just buy everything that the KB requires now and have it put in when its all ready..
yea i do not have a chip.. i was thinking of the SCT as well.. but i think im just gonna get headers for now. then do the PI head swap some time in febuary with Vt stage 1 cams.. just cant wait to supercharge it....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr |
The sample tube sits inside on the MAF and is calabrated. So you need to have the right ones for your injectors.

There is no use getting a MAF on a 96-04 Vehicle. You will only need this when adding a blower because the mass air meter will saturate (peg) and no longer have the ability to read air going into the motor.
Even going with a C&L calibrated for stock injectors will need tuning. I would never run anything but ford/sct meter on any vehicle. 90mm meter is perfect for a blower car. 5.0 car's were equipped with tiny mass air meters and benefit from going to a larger housing. We run 99-04GT 80mm GT meters on all 5.0 non power adder vehicles. |
