Winter Driving!
I'm going to drive my 2004 Mustang to work this winter.It,s a 20 min trip on a highway.Cape Breton has lots of snow and ice.I have 4 studded snow tires and a friend suggested putting some sand bags in the trunk.Anybody have any other ideas or experience with Mustangs in the winter?Any advive would bw appreciated.Thanks

When I had a 86 5.0 LX i put on snows and 2 bags of sand in the trunk. This worked quite well. Mustangs have light rear ends so you you need some extra something back there.
And if you get stuck you can use the sand for traction!

You know what I say..........often I hear my uncles saying to me "back in the day when I had a real car(muscle cars...rear wheel drives).............we drove em year round!" So ya know what.......I can't see why our cars would be different. As long as you are careful and have the proper gear like winter tires and some weight.......should be no prob. My sisters boyfriend drives his 2003 GT with a set of snows and that's it.

I've had a couple different sets of winter tires and I can tell you that in my opinion there is no better tire than the Pirelli SnowSport 210's. I drove like it was summer time outside with those things. I bought a set of Goodyear winter tires this past winter from a guy on another board because they were really cheap and have had nothing but problems. Absolutely no traction and even had a blowout on one.
I drove a 79 trans am for a few winters before this so the Cobra was like a deram car in the snow to me.
I have to say that while the car makes it through winter OK with the winter tires, it's still no comparison to my 4WD Escape. It's amazingly different in winter compared to the car.
