2011 GT ordered today
 

Hello All,

I'm new to the site and decided to take the admins advice to introduce myself.

I've been a gearhead for over 20 years now. I like all muscle cars but strangely enough, I've only owned Mustangs. My first Mustang was an 83 1/2 GT. It was a great car until I bagged it learning how to stunt. Since then I have had about 5 other Mustangs, even some Mustang II's. Like most of you know, you break it you learn how to fix it or pay through the nose. Every Mustang I have ever owned was used so I learned how to work on them.

A few days ago I took a 2010 GT out for a test ride and loved it! I was after a 2011 though but there weren't any on the lot. About 2 hours later I put down a deposit and ordered my very first brand new car. A 2011 Mustang GT Red Candy Metallic! WooHoo!! I got the confirmation yesterday that it should be ready in about 6 - 8 weeks. I can't wait.

Until then, I'll check out the pics of everyone elses here that can't get enough of the Mustangs.

I lived in Calgary for years but now I'm living in a small town in northern Alberta. I plan on going to some events in Edmonton and Calgary this summer.

I checked out the gallery last night. Some very nice rides and projects. I was really impressed with how imaculate 1LOW03GT's ride is. It looks like it's still brand new. I can't believe how clean the engine is. Nice setup on the gauges too.

A word of advice to anyone ordering new. My salesman called me today to update me on a few packages I asked for only a few days after the fact ($350 Alarm & $80 Block heater). Apparently the cost of the block heater is now $650. Ya.. I'm pretty sure the car hasn't even hit the build process yet so he' going to check into it. I told him to delete that option or start over with a new build. See what happens I guess.

Hey george congrats! Just so your aware, the block heater is $650 after the fact if not ordered with the car. The kit for the block heater is stupid expesive in all ford aluminum block motors to retro fit! Just make sure your guy changes the order if he can still.

Keeping it clean is an easy part,but hard at the same time.Easy cause i bought my GT new,but hard cause you gotta keep on top of it.....:bleh:

That's my shift light.I like it better then having a monster tach with a shift light attached to the dash where it can be an eye soar.They look better in a race car,or old school muscle car,but that's my opinion LOL!

^^^ couldn't agree more. That shift light looks great. Don't want to hijack this thread ... were gonna have to start a new one on shift lights - I've got lots of questions for you.

Good news.. I got a call from Ford and they are going to get the block heater and alarm for the original costs ($80 & $325). Whew.. I don't plan on using the block heater but I figured I better get it in now instead of paying for it later.

Extra money for mods yeh ha

I finally picked up my new 2011 Candy Red Mustang GT yesterday. Woohoo!! I didn't get the alarm package I asked for. Ah well. I also found out that the side louvers are not available for the 2011's yet. They tried to put some 2010's on, no go. I also found out that you don't get the strut tower brace unless you order the 19" tires.. sigh. I did get the clear bra though. It's great! you can't see it unless you get up close, but then all you see is a line across the hood. Very nicely done. It doesn't change the color of the paint at all. I'll send some Pic's once i figure out how to add them :)

Hey dude - way to go on the new '11. That 400hp is pretty tempting for the price I must say - enjoy is right!

They gave me a GO card or something like that. Supposed to be %10 off or something but when I went to pay for the clear bra, %10 didn't come off the price but was applied to something else. Points? I'll have to look into it again.
