Advice sought on 2011convertible
As an introduction...I have never owned a sports car but now is the time (62 and retired). The Mustang has always been a favourite ever since I saw my first in the early 60s, in France of all places!
I am looking at the 2011 convertible that, at least in my current state of mind and living in Ottawa, would be a clement weather drive only (winter storage). I have 2006 AWD Honda Element that I truly love for all sorts of practical reasons and would hate to part with.
From what I have read, the V6 manual seems ideal for me. Plenty of fun factor and easier on fuel.
I would like to know how the car behaves on a long journey as I am thinking of a trip out East.
All comments and suggestions are welcomed. Cheers

Welcome aboard there young fella lol. I have taken a Mustang (90gt) back in the day from Calgary to Vancouver then on to L.A. From there it was a pit stop in Vegas (to get married 20 years ago) and then non-stop to Windsor (except for food gas and potty). We stayed in Windsor for 2 weeks with a trip to the Falls for giggles and then back to Calgary. The car worked like a dream and it was a hoot/rip roaring good time. I suggest the 8 as the sound is worth the extra $$$$ and the mileage will surprise you. Back in 91 the GT pulled low 30's on the highway and now I see the 8 getting 37ish which is outstanding. Good luck and the 6 would also be a nice acquistion.

Welcome 2 the ZOO Sir, bout time we had a little maturity around here !! 
I know a guy that drives his 2010 V6 from Toronto 2 Cleveland quite often, he raves about the fun ride & minimal fuel consumption.

The '11 V6 is awesome on gas plus 305 horses...so no probs..I drove a 98 from Edmonton to Fredericton with my wife..we had our suitcases..and a bunch of stuff in the back seat...made the trip no problem whatsoever...was lots of fun actually....

If I was you I'd test drive a V6 and GT and make your decision from there. I drove an 05 convertible on a 4-5,000 km vacation through Alberta/BC a few years ago and was convertible. Trunk was a little tight but it can be done. On a side note I don't know how people do these tours on a motorcycle. A Mustang trunk is huge compared to saddle bags.

My vote is yes I have a 02 convertible and a lot of friends in the club have convertibles and a mustang convertible is not for travelling with a lot of luggage but what a great way to travel and I'm over 60 years old and still enjoy it.
