First time Mustang Owner

Hi all,

I have factory ordered a new 2013 Mustang GT! I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for it to come in. I should get it by the end of this month (hopefully). Back it the 70's I owned and loved my 68 Chevelle SS 396. Over the years I became a Honda owner, but I have always watched the Mustang. Starting around 2008, I began to really follow the Mustang evolution, by 2010 I was really starting to want one. Then, March of this year I stopped in to a Ford dealer and took a test drive....

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!

As I said my new Mustang should be here by the end of the month! :)
It's a real test of patience...

I'l upload some pics when I get it.

Welcome and congrats on the new Stang. I'm sure you'll love it.

Welcome and congrats on the new ride, you are gonna love it. What color and options did you pick?

I love black, so it's Black on Black, the seats have a charcoal insert in them.

I opted for the automatic trans, reverse sensing & security package, electronics package, rear video camera (I know a bit overkill, but I like the camera), remote start system and the GT accessory package 1.

Almost forgot, the base is the 401A equipment group.

I'm not really sure what it will look like all together, but I'm thinking it's going to be a pretty cool start if anything.

Hope it's here in the next couple of weeks!

SNAKEBITE 05-06-2012 04:56 PM

Firstly welcome and thanks for joining our little family and as an expert in black all I can say is have fun. My last car (GT500) had 219 coats of polish and wax and it still drove me nuts. I know I am mentally screwed in the head so I ordered a new black car, go figure. I will get into the Pony again probably in 2015. Enjoy the new car and happy motoring

DublDee 05-07-2012 12:26 PM

Welcome, and congrats indeed!

Mine isn't loaded and I'm ok with that. I have no Nav, backup camera, glass roof, Shaker Pro, none of the accessory packages, and no premium trim group. I'm ok with it as the things I really wanted were the Brembo package and the Recaro seats. I wouldn't have minded the Shaker Pro but it's not the end of the world that I don't have it.

superdutyfan 05-07-2012 05:45 PM

Welcome to the comunity.. and you will be more then happy with your choices. A back up cam is well worth every penny.

I guess I am showing my age as I think of loaded as a/c cruise p/w p/dl well you get the idea. I do not even think of stuff like cameras sat etc:chacha:

Vmax5000 05-08-2012 04:13 PM

I guess I showed my age by selecting an Automatic :)

But hey, I don't think it will slow down too much... if you know what I mean...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!!

SNAKEBITE 05-09-2012 06:41 AM

the new auto's shift faster than the sticks from all my readings and I will go that way again

DublDee 05-09-2012 11:18 AM

I loved the auto in my '10, but I think I like the 6 speed in my '12 just a wee bit more. And Yes, those auto shifts amazing, no lag like the old ones! :tup

SNAKEBITE 05-09-2012 03:33 PM

tech is such a great little thing lol

ChadStang 05-09-2012 06:46 PM

For 2013 the auto was updated with select shift which is a "manual mode" so you still have the freedom to pick your gears. They also stated that there is no interference from the computer forcing you to up or down shift. I'm excited to try one out and see what it's like.

SNAKEBITE 05-09-2012 10:41 PM

I have had a few new vehicles with the stick auto and rarely if ever used that feature

Newatthis 05-20-2012 01:59 PM

Congratulations on the new car! I've never owned a mustang until i bought one last August! It's too long to wait to get one and i'm sure you'll love your car as much as i do mine! As Snakebite mentioned, i have other rides with manual paddle shifters and aside from the initial novelty of it, never really got to using em.

Post pics when you the car, and perhaps i'd take a drive out to see your new car over coffee on a nice day! :-)

Thanks, I'm still waiting for my car to come in! I thought I was going to get it near the end of the month (May) but I talked to the dealer and now it looks like the middle to end of June! I'm getting ansi to say the least.

Is yours a 2012? As soon as I get it I will post some pics. I'm sure that once I get it, it won't take much to get me to go for a drive! It's a long drive to mission, but when you love driving your car, it not a problem. I could meet you half way.

SNAKEBITE 05-29-2012 06:49 PM

I am not the most patient feller in the world to say the least so I feel for you.

bigfootjumper 05-31-2012 01:26 AM

Good day everyone, I finally jumped in with both feet and "joined the stampede" I will be picking up my 2010 GT premium package triple black convertible today. I purchased it from the local dealer who had it for three years as demo. With only 10K of mileage and a decent price the deal was finally made. This dream has been a long time in the making and the now the time has arrived.

^^^^^ x 2. Bring on the pics!

Newatthis 06-11-2012 03:16 AM

vmax,

Yes, mine is a 2012. I won't mind the long drive on a nice day but meeting halfway somewhere is cool too, so you could further enjoy the ride too!

It will be worth the wait. Trust me.

Apocalypse Pony 06-27-2012 04:22 AM

'Grats on the '13 GT and welcome. Shouldn't be long now, only a couple of weeks. tick tick tick tick

Vmax5000 07-07-2012 09:40 AM

It finally came in! It showed up on the lot on June 27th and I picked it up on Jun 30th, wow it's awesome! Of course it was pouring rain when I picked it up and it rained every day after that so it's really dirty, but I was told that I can't wash it for 2 weeks to allow the paint protection to set. I don't want to post pictures of a dirty mustang so I'll wait until I can wash it. It's been tough holding it back while I break it in, so far I only have about 700 km, just another 900 to go! I love the projection of the mustang from under the side mirrors, it looks like someone put a stencil on the ground and painted a running mustang on the pavement (in the dark)! I sure get a lot of looks while driving around.

Stay tuned, I'll get the pics up as soon as I can wash it....

ChadStang 07-07-2012 09:18 PM

Glad to hear it finally came in for you. Congrats.

Looks awesome and great pics!!

Very nice looking car man.

Hey Chad, or anybody else, can you confirm something for me...A fella from town here said he ordered his white '13 GT and it was supposed to have the fog lights in the grille. He double checked with the salesman, and was told Yes it definitely had them. The car arrived and obviously the fog lights were not in the grille. So the salesman looks into it and told him you cannot get them in Canada. The guys was absolutely pissed, and refused to take the car. I talked to him at the last cruise night, and he is going to pick his new '13 Mustang GT from Seattle, WA next week, and yes it has the fog lights in the grille.
So my questions are: Is it true that only the US models come with the fog lights in the grille? And secondly, is this guy gonna run into a problem getting the car to pass a safety here in Canada?

stev0h 07-29-2012 10:11 AM

Nice pics Vmax5000!

Hey Dub, I was at Erinwood Ford in Mississauga recently 'cause they always have a ton of Mustangs on the lot, and I kept thinkin' to myself, somethings not right with the GT's. Bingo, it's the lack of fogs in the grill. A quick check at a few dealer websites, and I can't find one pic of a '13 GT for sale with the fogs in the grill. One more reason to get a '12 and somehow fit it with a '13 rear end . . .

That is correct. The GT has no lights in the grille for Canada. It has something to do with DRL with the HID lights. They had to make a last minute change and switched to the V6 style grille. This caused a lot of the delays people are seeing. It caught me off guard when my car came in but it was a blessing in the end as I want to change the grille anyway and if I do I still have fog lights. Hopefully Roush brings out their front fascia kit soon. Before that guy buys one in the u.s he better check with RIV as the car may not be able to be imported.

DublDee 07-29-2012 10:37 PM

^^ Thanks Chad, I will let him know....I really can't believe he cancelled the sale just because of two fog lights. :?
