Car was stolen from my driveway 48 hours and $1000 in parts, after taking it out for the season.
I sure hope there is a special room in Hell reserved for the SOB that did that to me.

Were the parts visible to the public?That might've gave xomeone reason to ****** your stang.

Oh man thats terrible. Sorry to hear that. Times like this when a system like, I dare say it, OnStar would be helpful. Hopefully things work out. Fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear of chit like this. I had my 05 keyed about 2 weeks after I bought it. Probably some jelous little puke with no consious ... I sure hope they find your car and the A-hole that took it !!!

 

I know what you mean, had my car vandalized a couple of times.
Just about lost all hope for recovery as the 30 day "wait for recovery" period ends this coming Tuesday, can`t wait to see what kind of value my insurance co. places on it.
Whatever it is, it won`t be enough.

 

Start doing your research now. Look on auto trader, local dealer lots, kijiji, etc. and have print outs to prove what your car is worth. Also, dig up the receipts for every after market part you've ever had installed. No reciepts? No problem. Go to the stores you bought the stuff at and get copies. If they can't help you get the model numbers and find out how much they go for used. TRUST ME - you'll be glad you did this. When they offer you a low ball offer you can counter and you'll have the documentation to prove what you're asking is fair.

Thanks for the reply. My insurance co. requested receipts dating back 1 year, which were substantial as I liked to keep the car in top form.
Instead, I sent them every receipt since the repairs, upgrades and mods were considerable over the course of the years, however, all work was performed by me so I don`t know how that will factor in if at all.

I`ve been researching various classified sites in order to get an idea of what a car like that may be worth, but unfortunately nothing comes close in terms of what I had.
Most cars out there are basically bone stock, driven year round and for all I know, never properply maintained with prices ranging anywhere between 8 and 13K.

How does an insurance company evaluate a car anyways, red book, market value?

 

i'm not too sure what yours will do out east there, but ICBC here low balled me when i wrecked my sixxer, they told me $2600 is what they'd give me for it. i told them that if they could find me basically the same thing for THAT MUCH, then i will do it. (had every intention of buying the car back anyhow) i recieved a call back two days later, and eventually ended up with my car back in my hand and $1500 in my pocket.
they will most likely use something like black book, thier job is to save them money, they will ALWAYS try to low ball you, that's where VAEM has a good point. even if you have pictures of proof that work was done, mods installed. anything you can get your hands on as leverage, do it. realize it may take longer to deal with them, but in the end it will be worth it.
