Hello from Calgary! Advice needed
Hi Mustang family!
So, as my title states, im needing some advice.
Up until last friday, i was driving a 2003 lincoln towncar, which unfortunately was totalled when someone ran a red and t-boned me. I walked away without a scratch thankfully but the car is a total loss. Really irritated because id sunk alot into it, adding a limited slip differential with more aggressive gears, upgraded tune, p-71 air box and the ADTR throttlebody and intake tube.
Im getting to how this connects to a mustang, bear with me.
I added the limited slip diff specifically for winter driving and coupled with good winter tires i never had an issue getting around.
Now, im waiting for my insurance payout, and ive come across a really clean looking 1990 mustang GT hatchback for sale, guy wants 9 k for it. Its got 214,000 km on it, and its in BC so it hasnt (i dont think) seen the crap we use on the roads here in winter, meaning theoretically it shouldnt have much if any rust.
A big part of the reason im considering it is because it literally has all the stuff i'd done to my towncar, LSD, more performance oriented, ect ect, and to me it just makes more sense to buy this car with all that out of the box vs getting another panther and having to build it up again.
If i were to buy this mustang, it would be a year round 365 daily while also being a fun toy in summer. If im to get it my first action is going to be getting good winters on it and getting it undercoated before i drive it home.
My question
I havent had a chance to search the forum yet as im at work so apologies in advance if there is a thread(s) on this, but, to those who daily their cars year-round, how do you find it in winter?. My panther was literally twice the weight of a foxbody, and my only real concern would be this aspect. I know you can put weight in the rear, ect, but how is it to live with in winter?. Would you? would you not?. My lifestyle isnt really impacted by what i'd drive, and i work from home, so thats nice. And i have a heated garage to store it in. And it WOULD be much easier to park around town than a panther.
Honest thoughts, please let me know.
