Hey kids..

Well, it was suggested I introduce myself.. Apparently it's bad manners to show up and just start asking questions.. ;) Captvirgilhilts told me about this site, and so far seems pretty cool. He suggested I tell the story of the frankenstang.. So a few years ago I had an urge for a 67-68 fastback, so I picked one up near Windsor I believe.. was pretty cheap because i twas a rusted out pos, but it came with a whole slew of aftermarket sheet metal and the old interior, old suspension, etc, etc, for $1500, so I figured even if I scrap the car, it woudl be worth it.. So I drag it into my driveway and captvirgilhilts comes over to take a look at it. He informs me something is fishy about it.. After scouring it and smacking some big hunks of bondo out, he informs me it was actually a 68 coupe with a 67 fastback roof welded onto it. D'oh! Scraping away some seam sealer led to a 67 and 68 VIN number (67 is on the ownership).. Hah.. So anways, that has long ago been crushed.. A couple years ago I drove down to Kansas to pick up my current project, a 67 fastback gt390.. Although I don't know if you can call it that since the motor and tranny are long gone.. Anwyays, I slack off a lot, so it hasn't come that far, but barring weather problems (dammit) I plan to grind the new quarters down and strip and paint the undercarriage and interior with some epoxy and paint.. (Speaking of, anyone around here have the means to spray? I was thinking about it today and while I COULD do it here, it might be easier if I pay someone to spray it down.. anyways, thats a thread of a different colour).. So yeah, this car was decently rust free, but since I'm a complete moron, I cut out the floor pans, quarters, trunk floors, aprons and replaced them all, even though I could have gotten away with a patch here and a patch there.. So now with my luck, my car is going to drive sideways down the road.. ANways, theres my stang in a nutshell.. Hope to see you guys around. Peace

JohnnyK 05-11-2006 02:31 PM

'Course.. Might have to wait a few days or something until I get it painted or at least make it visible that it's not assembled from a bunch of lesser cars.. ;)

Hey Johnny! I saw your other post first, welcome. Not too many vintage guys here, I have a '94 Vert, seems more Fox/SN95 owners here. There is a spot for us though. Fairly new site, room for a few more....lol.
Mike.

Thanks again guys.. Nah, i'm good with the pics, thanks though. Will need help with a lot of other things though.. :banghead:

What, you don't have a 94 vert.. Thought you had a 67?

pmhvps 05-18-2006 09:34 AM

Bought the Vert last summer. Not a '67....a '68 Fastback, Coupe X 2 and a '69 Bronco....umm a '80 Fairmont, '02 Focus and a '05 FX4 Super Crew. A regular used car lot.....
Mike.
