New to me 2012 Mustang GT Grabber Blue

Hi Everyone,
At Dubldee’s request I am going to do a short/medium introduction. I have been lurking around in the forums since spring when the quest for my 4th mustang began.

My first mustang was a 1988 Mustang LX Notchback – 2.3l 5spd Fully Loaded. I purchased this car in ~1992 or so from SGI (Sask. Government Insurance) after the previous owner lost control of it, drove through a barbed wire fence and landed in a slough… water was over the roof.
At the time my Dad and I completely stripped the interior of the car… nothing was left except the steering column laying on the floor and the wiring harness running down the middle. We sprayed all of the connections with Rust Check and replaced the electronics as required. I was intimately acquainted with the wiring schematics in the back of my Haynes manual before that job was done. Unfortunately due to an impact with some old people that couldn’t drive I sold it back to SGI a couple years later. Although the car was a 4 cylinder, I certainly loved it and had the old people taken care of. (j/k)

My Second ‘Stang was a 1985 2.3l 5spd Notchback as well, I really didn’t like this car at all so this is a short paragraph.

My third Mustang was a 1991 Imported American SSP Police Car. The previous owner claimed it had 300+hp but after some of the research I have done during the past 3-4 months I doubt this to be the case. The car had highway gears in it but still moved really well compared to the 4 cylinders I had owned previously. It had almost no options. No a/c, manual windows, etc, but lots of engine.

After this I owned a barrage of trucks, small cars and minivans. Live takes over.

The quest for mustang #4 began early spring. My wife was and is fully aware of my previously repressed Mustang obsession gene and started showing me Kijiji ad’s for foxbody’s periodically. We both spent months looking for the right car but there aren’t very many foxbody notchback mustangs that are in decent shape and have some of the features I wanted. There are a lot of abused ones on the market, and the decent ones were priced considerably higher than we wanted to spend. (when we started looking…)

So one day on our way to work we decided to stop at the local ford dealer and see what they had in the 2005-2008 range to test drive. The dealer here had the Boss 302 in the showroom but I avoided looking at it much because I only have one backup kidney and didn’t want to part with it. They had nothing other than a 2006 V6 Automatic. We drove it anyway and both of us were pretty impressed.

A few weeks later we drove into Saskatoon and had an opportunity to drive a 2008 GT Automatic and 2008 GT 5spd Cali Special back to back. Obviously the V6 hit the backburner… as well as the automatic. Still convinced we could escape the Mustang bug without dropping that much cash we drove to Medicine Hat and test drove a 2002 GT 5spd (Very Nice Car) and a 1996 Cobra. The Cobra was completely trashed. Covered in treesap and drivers seat was bent sideways. Pulled like crazy still tho.

Against my better judgment I considered the implications of looking for something 2011 or so with the Coyote 5.0 instead. One evening during our surfing madness, my wife found a 2012 Mustang GT on Autotrader in Grabber Blue at a Chrysler Dealer. We had both agreed it was our favorite of the colors. Something twigged with me so I hit the for sale section on cmoc.ca and found the same car previously listed by Dubldee. I pm’d him for some more information and started reading his posts from the time he purchased the car and realized that we needed to own it.

What the hell, you only live once right? If only we had decided to buy it in May when Dubldee listed it, we’d both have 100’s of hours of our lives that we spent looking, driving to look, etc. Dubldee was extremely helpful, and sold us the car with all of the posts on here. I arranged for the Ford dealer here to purchase it and went and picked it up. It’s the first vehicle I have ever purchased in my life without test driving… but I was confident it was as new, and it was.

And it is. I couldn’t be more thrilled. I haven’t been this excited to drive anything since my 1991 SSP and this is a completely different level of car.

Thanks Dubldee, stopping to meet us when we picked the car up, and your genuine happiness and excitement for us was the icing on the cake. You rock dude.

Thanks def67, The 2002 GT we drove was actually located in Taber. Owned by an 18 year old. The car was immaculate. I've never seen a car that old in such incredible shape.

Apparently the owner works polishing cars/detailing etc and applying 3M film for people. He bought his first car when he was 14 and spent a year polishing it before he could drive it.

I was pretty leary when he answered the door but it was sure in a lot better shape than the '96 Cobra in The Hat. (Which was owned by a much older guy)
