new member and first time owner

hi all, I'm Mike and I live in NS. I'm a first time Mustang owner and first impressions exceeded my expectations.. by a lot lol. it's a 2012 Mustang BOSS 302 and I love it! I've been interested in a V8 for a while but I wanted to wait a few months to save some money that I can put down along with my trade in but I saw a great deal on this Mustang and I knew I wanted a BOSS 302 since its debut so I contacted the dealer and we agreed on everything and I picked it up last Monday. I'll try to take pictures and post when I get a chance. looking forward to learning more about it and possibly meet some local owners!

Oh man, she looks fantastic! My heart always goes aflutter when I see a white stang. Here is a pic (this is not the car I owned though) of the first new car I ever bought, a white '85 GT.

There is a lapping school July 2, check out this thread, There was only one spot left a few weeks ago. http://www.armsinc.ca/forum/viewtopi...p=97866#p97866
I probably will not be there that day as I will be attending our 2 day slalom event in Digby http://www.armsinc.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11386. That would be a blast for you also, come on down!

My son & I try to get to most of the autoslaloms, and probably at least one of the time attacks. Come on out to some events. Usually only 2 Mustangs, but a great bunch of car nuts.

Alan

My uncle had a Stang identical to that when I was a kid. It was the first Mustang I ever rode in and started me off on this obsession. lol

I will definitely be going to one of the schools to get a license and I will try to make it to some of the slaloms. I've been to AMP a couple times with my previous car and can't wait to go back with the Mustang.

I was never really a Mustang guy to be honest but I think the obsession is beginning with the BOSS lol. I like the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger and knew I would buy one at some point down the road but was undecided and was waiting to decide when I have more money for a down payment. I've never driven the Challenger but I've driven the V6 and V8 equipped Mustangs and Camaros over the past year and continued to wait after the test drive but after driving the BOSS, I was sold.

I haven't got the chance to drive a Boss yet but I'm pretty happy with my GT.

don't get me wrong, I loved the GT! and I would have been very happy with it. when I found the Boss, I was actually looking for a used 5.0 Mustang to see if there's one for a price I could comfortably afford but then I saw the Boss and figured I need to test it lol. it was barely used so the price was pretty good for a basically new car - just above 300 miles.

No doubt I would love a Boss but this just made sense for me. I'm sure you will love your new car.

yea, the GT would have made better sense for me too to be honest, especially financially, but I have no kids and the wife and I are still renting so I convinced myself (lol) that if there's a time to get a car like this, it's now and it'll be nearly paid off by the time we're ready to get a house and have kids so it could be a paid-off GREAT weekend toy then if we keep it long term.

From some of the things I've read, the Brembo package GT isn't too far from being a Boss in disguise......:D

that's great, thanks. I don't think I will be able to make it to all of them, unfortunately, but Wednesday and Friday should be good so I'll be at one of them and maybe both. are the pics on your profile recent?

edit: I've just realized the pics were added about a week ago lol. if I see your car, I'll make sure to say hi.

agray56 07-03-2012 07:34 PM

So I hear you were at AMP on Monday, how did you like the lapping?

The Bullitt is down for the moment. The rad fan busted on Saturday in Digby, so we unplugged it and finished our runs with no trouble on Saturday. On SundayAM my son did his last run, shut the car off and it promptly spewed much coolant on the ground via the safety cap so that was the end of it's day. I did my runs in a friends borrowed Neon and had a blast anyway. My son came 3rd and me 6th on Saturday (26 entries), and he came 2nd on Sunday. Both days the best time was a well prepped '03 Cobra.

are you referring to me? I wasn't at AMP. I know there's at least another BOSS in Halifax so if you heard there was a Boss, it could have been that one.

that's great! what car had 1st on Sunday? I went to AMP a few times with the local BMW club in my last car - a Cobalt SS turbo with a couple of power and suspension mods - and it was huge fun, even on performance all season tires. I can't wait to see how much better the BOSS is going to be. :chacha:

Funny, I asked if there was a white Boss there and the person said yes, so I assumed it was you! Is there another white one around or was he mistaken?

The same '03 Cobra took fastest time both days. It is putting down about 450hp and he had it lowered so much he didn't know if he would make it up the road to the airport! He changed his springs at the end of the day Sunday to get a bit more height for the drive home. This guy is an excellent driver, having competed in several areas in the US and Canada and has also instructed at several high speed driving schools in the past. The funny thing is the first 3 sedans both days were a Cobra (450hp), my Bullitt (242 WHP) and a civic (90hp). The Civic is a very well prepped car and the driver also. Day 1 was 2.7 seconds between 1 and 2 and Day 2 only 0.5s difference.

Welcome Carter! The suggestions you get back for improvements will depend a great deal on what you want to do with the car, i.e. daily driver, or track toy. Do you want to improve power, handling or both?

Read some of the posts above if you are interested in solo events or lapping at the track!
