Depends on whether or not you want it rust proofed. Even without driving in the winter, I don't think it's a bad idea, unless you're going High and Dry and not even driving in the rain, which I've heard of, and even then, I'd say do it. Dealer or aftermarket is up to you, dealers like the stuff thats sprays on and stays on, one application of a tar/wax like substance. I don't buy the lifetime protection pitch on that stuff, but one advantage of aftermarket, like Krown or Rust Check, is that they get inside the panels, and that stuff creeps into all the rolled joints where moisture can get in and sit and rot. Downside is spraying every year, but for the hundy or a hundy and a half you'll spend, it's cheap insurance, and once a year is no big deal. Aftermarket drilling and spraying has no impact on the warranty, don't fall prey to the dealer sales pitch as to why you should buy from them. For god's sake, just don't get one of those electronic rust modules, that's the biggest ripoff since bolt on electric superchargers.

I myself use Krown. I only have them spray the undercarriage, reason being that convertibles are some what open at the back where the roof goes down. After spraying in and a round where the roof is it tends to get some oil on it from the rubbing on the edges. You can also have them spray inside the doors. A lot of what AP says is bang on.

You make a valid point. I'm pretty sure I will get caught in the rain a few times. I like the Krown application, however, I read a post on here where someone got their car sprayed with Krown and it caused the CEL light to come on. Definitely won't be doing the electronic module thing.....don't feel like paying for nothing. LOL.

No prob, like Autonut said with the undercarriage and his convertible, if you're nervous about the engine compartment and possible CEL issues, tell them not to do under the hood, or ask about Krown's effect on electrical components. You might have seen it posted here that someone had a Check Engine Light come on, but that doesn't make it true, or mean that Krown caused it, that's likely someones opinion, which doesn't count for much, it is the internet after all and everyones got one and looking to blame someone else for their problems. lol If you don't have them spray under the hood, you can always get under there with a spray bomb of Krown and have a little more control over what gets sprayed and what doesn't.

I think I will definitely tell them to skip the engine compartment and do it myself. You are absolutely right, I've only seen one post on here that referred to the CEL light on as a result of the Krown treatment.
