the advantage to being able to turn it on when you want is that you can control the temp alot easier. say you want it to heat up faster you leave the fan off a bit, and turn it on when you want it to cool...say between runs at the track. a lot of people hook it up to temperature activated solenoids, and from what i can tell it's not difficult, but i've always preferred having the power to make my car do what I want it to....

well, i think becasue i plan on driving this car a fair amount, i'm not going to switch the fan yet.

Your call. I know it frees up quite a bit of horsepower for cheap. those clutch fans are heavy and take a lot of power to turn. I was putting around 30k per year on the mustang with the electric and never had a problem.

Did you remove the whole fan shroud too? and do you mount the fan on the front or back of the rad? i would assume the back, but i have seen some vechiles with them on the front?

I removed the shroud because the electric one had one of it's own. You can set the fan on either side depending if you wire it to push air or pull it, I've always mounted it behind the rad and pulled air through like the clutch fan would.

im going to stick with the clutch fan for now, but thanks for the info
