Made it into the 12's today at Cayuga.

The Mach1 and me finely broke into the 12's today at Cayuga during T&T. Ran a 12.976@104.81 60ft time was 1.769.

Felt good and I am glad I am there now. Need to stay consistant though. Always something to improve. lol.

james93stang 07-02-2005 07:28 PM

congrats, hope you can keep it there

Thanks guys. X pipe going on in a few weeks and hopefully a fixed Xcalibrator2 (as it does not work on my Mach 1 for some reason) will keep me there. :)

Ryan, I agree it is about time for me. lol All I hear at Cayuga is " oh, you run low 13's, yes, I have a friend with a Mach and he runs 12. You mean ryan, you know him, nope just from the message boards. lol Your a Mach 1 legend at Cayuga. :) At least now I can say I am in the 12's also. Forget that as they will say "did you know he ran a 12.60 lol. I am just kidding around wioth you, I think it is great that you have the talent and the power to get er going. Keep at it and bash some of those stock 12,60 machs on the regisrty. lol

No you don't lol you just need practise. I raced all last year and part of this year. It took me awhile but now I got it.
When I started this I wanted a car that could run 12 seconds on the track the same way I pulled into the track and the same way that I left. I did not want to change tires, rip headlights out, fill up with 105 octane race fuel. That is all okay if you want the fastest your car can go I just wanted a 12 second car street or strip.

Sorry for the cliche but I did it my way, I listened to a lot of people that said oh just put slicks on it, Nittos are no good, tear the insides out and take the spare out, run race fuel. I just kept at it and I love my Nittos that are on the car. I raced it with all in it, spare tire, jack, back seat and I got there. My race weight with me and car is 3550 with a 1/4 tank fuel. I also listened to the right people whom told me do not power shift all the time, do not ram the gears, follow the same procedure for your start line. Lots more other helpful hints. I am glad I listened :) I even have offers for more help and advice and I will take it. The racer crowd on the OSCA weekends at Cayuga are second to none.

You will get there, just gotta get out more often and get use to your car and listen to their advice. Good luck.

Well i hope to make it next week to the track and get into the same club.
Would be nice to do it on the motor but if i just knock on the door on the motor i will be happy. Best motor pass was a 13.4
But i sure and hell will be there on the bottle.

SirChirpAlot 07-06-2005 01:21 PM

I have vids from last year when the cougar was pulling the wheels and going 13s. Vids are funny as hell u can hear the car chirping and see it skipping all over the track as it when down. Big time susp probs back then.

AeR0 07-06-2005 01:25 PM

well get the video up!

lol

SirChirpAlot 07-06-2005 02:10 PM

We had the Z28 and cougar on the dyno around X mis for Sports car rev.
I havent seen the show to laugh at it.
We did 3 pulls on it and called it a day. Not sure witch pull they showed on the show but it was not much.

New motor is alot better.

AeR0 07-16-2005 04:46 PM

SirChirpAlot 07-17-2005 01:30 PM

What were your 60' times? I also had the same goals. Drive to the strip, don't touch a thing, run 12's and go home. I did it in my 96 Cobra two weeks ago but now have new goals! My 60' was 1.7 last year but now with my H&R SS springs I am running 2.0 60' times! I still ran 12.90@108MPH with the crappy 60'. Now I want to get the 60' down so i'm trying new springs and shocks. I want efficient launches! If I can get my 60' back to 1.70 I will run 12.40-12.50! What an addiction...

Addiction it is. Congrats on the 96 cobra times. 60 fts were 1.76 to 1.8s all day on 275/40/17 Nitto Drag Radials. good luck with the goals. :tup

So did the lakewoods make a difference? Did you remove the front swaybar?

Lakewoods made a differenca and did not remove the sway bar, next outting I am doing that. I am taking my time to see what I have gained and how it effected the part that I am changng. So I should be able to tell you after Sunday if I go to Sparta as I want to run it a few runs to see how I hook their and than remove the bar and see if that helps or just for looks.

Removing the swaybar really wakes up 90/10's! Expect a huge difference. I would estimate low 1.7's. The front end will come up much easier with no swaybar. Good luck.
