Sparta

Sparta sucked A$$ this weekend,

Lane one would only record R/T, MPH and ET, lane 2 the MPH was never accurate (I don't think lane 1 had accurate MPH all the time)

Right now I am not sure where I stand but I definately need some traction, next year I will have to invest in some drag radials or slicks for the track.

With a 03 GT convertible with the mods listed below and no weight reduction and 3/4 tank of fuel on my second run of the night and first time out for the year ran my best time 13.85 ( 106.64 MPH which I believe is not correct)
Most of my runs the MPH was between 99 to 100 MPH. Hell one run I did 13.99 at 115 MPh :laughhard that is why I say their time keeping had issues.
When I raced a few years back I know the MPH never changes as much as last night so I know they were not accurate.

I never raced this thing bone stock so I do not know how much improvement I have made, I figure stock would be around 14.5 to 14.6

May have to take a trip to Cayuga.

It is hit and miss at Sparta. Friday nights is a no no if you are looking for the best times of your car as they do nothing to the track as far as prep. Saturday and Sunday are good for that. I guess the times shold work but they have been having issues lately with the times. Your car is going down well at Sparta. The gears you have and a stock tire do not mix even with a prepped track. good luck.

Well maybe I will try a Saturday night. They have one coming up Sept 10th.

Ya the stock tires are 245 wide, I knew they were going to be an issue. I plan on buying tires next year to give me a little better traction. With the stock rear being 28 spline I will not be able to rev it up too much and dump it but if I can stop as much of the wheel spin in first and I get quite a bit in second I should pick up some decent times.

When I hit the end of the 1/4 mile I am pretty close to red line in 4th gear.

How much quicker do you think drag radials would improve my time .3 ?

With 4.10 in my Mach1 and Nitto drag radials I can cut high 1,8's at Sparta and mid 1.7s at Cayuga.

I have a 28 spline Moser axel 30% stronger than stock that I got at steeda.ca fit right in no other things to do. Works excellent.

You should get Mickey Thomspsons with your gear and you will probably at least knock 3 tenths off. Good luck

What are you launching at off the line with that setup?

I was getting about 2.2 60 ft.

At sparta around 3500 at Cayiuga 4500 to 5000 rpm. I also have drag struts and no sway bar. With drag radials you will see at least 1.8s if you heat them up.

uh thats an intelligent responce...

bury Sparta..why?

On any given Friday nite there are 500+ cars there...The staff is friendlier then Grand Bend, I can park my car and see the track from it, If the track is glued I can cut low 1.7 60 foots and only 1.8's at the bend. The trap speeds are usually higher at Sparta, You dont have to wait 30 min between runs....and they make some killer hot dogs....lol

Honestly I have been to TMP, BEND, SPARTA...and for a overall place to be I will take Sparta any day...but I'm running the bend this weekend so I will see if things have gotten better since last time I was there....maybe the track but I'll bet the staff are still a bunch of pieces of wood.
