2012 gt mt82 grinding

new here, and also recently got myself a 2012 mustang gt with 13,000km on it now. ive been doing some reading on the mt82...... is it as terrible as people are saying? cause ive had some serious bad luck with this car. first the engine went out on it on the dam test drive with 9600km on it, threw a rod and they put a long block in. now after being in the shop for just over two weeks they just replaced the ring and pinion(puked all the oil out), 1,2,3,4 gears in the trans(was grinding going into gear from 1-2 and 2-3 and 3-4 hot or cold),and the also messed up putting the shift back together so they installed a new shifter. i have a good feeling the engine and rear diff problems are solved but this dam trans is what im really worried about cause it still grinds going into second gear when its cold. guess what im wondering is why is this trans grinding? i dont want to have this trans rebuild every 12500km or ford to reject me and call it abuse which its clearly not. has anybody solved these issues or know why these mt82's grind so bad all the time an miss shifts.

Welcome, wow tough go.....if the engine went out on the test drive, why did you buy it? Theres plenty out there, I would have looked elsewhere myself.

Got nothing for you on the MT82 issues, best of luck, hope things work out for you, post some pics of your ride on a happier day!!

I would get a Blowfish shifter support brace. Have one on my Boss and have no issues. Use to get a little nibble from 2-3. There is also the MGW shifter, it is a bit pricey but is probably the best on the market.

i bought the car thinking new engine why not, if i knew the head ache im having now with the trans i wouldnt have got the dam thing. but that all being said with all the new parts it basically an new car. with all the trouble ive been having. ford coughed up a 2yr or 50000km extra warranty just on engine and trans. but really its only a extra year to me cause my powertrian warranty runs out next may. and yes the mgw shifter looks like the answer here if it does solve the grind issue. the factory shifter seems just so sloppy, after they installed the new factory shifter im occasionally missing my shift from 1-2 and sometimes 2-3

I have the MGW shifter in my 2012 GT - vast improvement. Also put in Royal Purple Synchromax fluid improves smoothness even further.
