New guy here, Tranny swap

My buddy is selling a 90 gt i want it... BUT i can't drive stick. Is it a straight up swap to put in a AOD tranny? Or will i need a ton of extra parts? Thanks Ben!

Just leave it.Driving a stick is not hard at all.Easier then you think.....a lot easier then swapping to an automatic.I myself learned with my ol' 85 GT after i bought it.LOL!!
But to answer your question, you would need the auto trans, torque convertor, the flywheel, driveshaft, well at least the yoke for the driveshaft, cross member, maybe the speedo cable, the trans linkage cable, the shifter, the shifter trim piece, atf fluids, and maybe a few other things.
Personally, have your buddy show you how to drive stick. You would be suprised how easy it really is to drive mannual car.

^+1 on that, the car will be worth more as a stick too.

Going from stick to auto is fairly messed up IMO But I can understand the want to not have stick if you arent familiar with it.

You should be able to find someone to swap their auto trans for your stick if you decide to do it

Auto should come with less parts. You will need to change the pedal assembly and possibly the A9L computer.

Leave it man, As Jay said %spd is easy to learn. Crap man, Even my Mom in her 50's learned to drive 5spd a couple years back when she bought her Miata! HAHA Plus it isn't worth the headaches of a swap.

Autos have their place though. I mean, driving on the Gardiner in traffic does suck at times. Auto is nice to cruise

And auto can be as fast.

Ripping out a 5speed to go auto is def. not the norm of what 5L owners do.
