OE brakes or not

OE brakes or not
ok I went to the ford dealer and know the parts guy who gave me a 30 percent discount on 4 rotors and pads front and back. for 520 taxes in. 119.95 per rotor and 79.95 per set of pad. Would you put the factory brakes on or should I go with some aftermarket brakes. I do mostly street and the drag once and road course once also. Is it a waste or should I go with aftermarket I don't want to spend any more money. What would you do. 2003 mach 1. thanks for eveerybody's help.

Stay with the factory rotors, get aftermarket upgraded pads. I suggest Hawk HPS or HP+. I have used both, the HPS are more for street use and will be ok for occasional track use. The HP+ good for more track use but can still be used on the street but more brake dust.

The HP+ for those particular calipers are pretty squeal-prone on the street, I have them on the Cobra brake conversion on my SHO. Unless you're doing road course track days with the car as well, stay with the milder pads like HPS.
The OE rotors for that application are a great deal, $120 for a made in Italy genuine Brembo rotor ... anything from the aftermarket will not be the same quality.
cheers

I picked uped my rotors and pads. they came in brown boxes. Parts manager says the good rotors come in brown boxes He also entered my name on the computer so I get wholesale prices(they are also a roush dealer)on all parts. The front rotors (wow they are beefy thick) are made in Italy but the back rotors are made in Brazil. When I looked in the rear pads I was like did they give my ford focus pads because they are small but when I looked at the rear pads they were right lookin. Also have to change the spark plugs this weekend. Any body have any tips on the brake job. I have never changed Ford brakes first time I have ever owned a Ford do these cars have any tricks doing brakes on my mach1?

I would go with Powerslot Rotors and Streethawk pads.

I tried Powerslot rotors, and would not recommend them for much more than occassional track use. The first time on the track, I cracked one of them, really pi&%ed me off. I suppose it could have been a defect, but the stock rotors ( I also have Cobra brakes) seem to work quite well for me.
