Tire Pressure
 

Hey guys, I'm just wondering what you guys fill your tire pressure to? My father has always told me not to do what it says on the sidewall and I never have. I've currently got some falken rubber on and I'm pretty sure max is like 55PSI but I usually do like 35. Should I be putting more in?

My city also has very crappy roads.

I'm running 35 PSI as well. 35 seems like a pretty standard tire pressure, every time I take my F150 to the dealer they always set my tires to 35 (I set them at 40) and I have to fill them up again each time.

Your father is right. Never use max PSI pressure. Dealers use the PSI thats recommended for the vehicle - denoted on the sticker mounted on the drivers side door. For my Nissan SUV the recommended tire pressure is 29 PSI - Low I thought, but perfect for the truck. I always stick with vehicle manufacturer recomendation.

35 in the summer 45 in the winter storage/leakage

I put new rubber on my 92 GT and had one strut that was siezed. Replaced the struts and thought maybe it would be a good idea to get the front end aligned.
The front end was not out much which was good, but, the technician bumped the pressure up to the max as on the sidewall. He says that this is where the tires should run.
I must admit the car rides and steers a whole lot better running at the higher pressure.
I have always gone by the 32-35 rule.....but.....who is right??
The place where I took my car is a top shop and is highly thought of by everyone.

the higher the pressure the rougher the ride I find. As well with max pressure if you hit a pothole/bump you stand a better chance of the dreaded blowout

My '07 calls for 35psi all the way around. I check tread depth at three points across the tire, and rotate at each oil change. I find the best/most even wear with my front tires at 32 and my rears at 30.

my rear tires don't last long enough to worry about it lol.3rd set of pirellis in 18,000kms.my mickey t's are just about done aswell.

33 pounds all the way around, and I rotate every 10,000 kms, no exceptions. The wear on my PZero Nero's is awesome, but to be honest, I'm not a fan of these tires at all:mad:

Going to switch them out over the winter, while the Mistress is parked in her stable:)

Your father is right ... NEVER inflate the tires to the PSI listed on the sidewall. The drives side door jam of your Mustang will tell you the correct PSI.
