not really a mystery he spelled it out fairly good through a couple different threads awhile ago on the other site.
Basically (hopefully i didn't read into this wrong) the car(s) were cutting into family time and he wanted to be out with his family/kid(s) more doing sports etc etc. it makes the decision alot easier when there's not a sweet car in the garage that could be worked on. all the power to him for being able to kick the habit for a couple years while his kids grow a little

Damn mine look nothing like those. There is not a mark anywhere on any of my 4 rims. Maybe they are perfect because I polish/wax every 15-20 kms. Paid 400ish per rim, nice.

The 'Pitting' issue was a very common one on the 99-02 style chrome wheels. Very common. The newer 03 to present must've gone through a different process.
