Question HELP! Need to get rid of parts!

Hello all! I am not specifically selling something here, but need advice and don't know what section to ask in.
I have quite a large amount of 1972 Mustang parts. I tried selling them, but no one is biting. I don't have much room. Although I need the money, I just really need to be rid of them. On the same note, I have what's left of the actual car, too. I don't want to see the whole thing shipped to a scrapyard - that just seems unfair. There could be life left in that car yet.
So - does anyone have any ideas at all? Dealers, people, anything where these parts and car could have new life, or good use?
Thanks
Adam

What is missing from it to make a complete car. Someone on here might pick it up to restore it.

Well... I don't know about that. It seems to be held together by rust and hope. One of the floor panels is rotted through, the engine bay front is damaged, the engine is in really bad shape, one of the rear shock absorbers or something is broken (hunk of rust that dangles loosely), surface rust everywhere. The frame itself is good, oddly enough. I highly doubt I could get rid of it before snow, though, so its gonna have to be wrapped up and brave the elements. But as for as restoration goes - I was quoted at around 80,000 bucks. So...there you have it.

I had a similar situation with a car I held on to for sentimental reasons - had great intentions of working on it to put it back together, but instead, it ended up being the equivalent of a boat anchor that followed me around for ten years.

If you've tried selling (with no luck -assuming your price was realistic) and things are in as rough a shape as you say, sometimes you just gotta shrug your shoulders and take the loss. I ended up dumping my project and a load of new parts for like $500 - should have done it ten years ago, but it was a valuable lesson.

The frustrating part is that it's amazing how many cheap ****** are out there that want you to give them your stuff for nothing, or next to nothing - put a "Free To A Good Home" sign on it and watch how many interested pack rats show up!!! Good luck dude - a frustrating and tough spot to be in, but if this stuff is costing you time and money for storage etc, and you don't have $80,000 kicking around to restore it (seriously?) , I'd cut it loose.

Second suggestion would be to pack up all your stuff and find someone who has a spot at the Barrie flea market events in the spring and late summer. Don't know if that works for you, but it's another option.

List parts on Kijiji not the whole car but parts say something like this........

1972 Mustang Grille for sale for $XX.XX. I also have several other parts for the same car that I am scrapping, contact me with the part you are interested in and I will let you know if it is still here.

You will be surprised with the emails you will get and lo and behold some of them will lead to sales. Also you may get a person that will ask you for the whole car.

ApocPony - Sorry to hear you had to go through the same thing. That's a good idea about just saying "Free to a good home" though - I have a feeling I'll resort to that. I don't know how I'd get the thing to Barrie though - that's a good hour away, and one of the brake lights is broken! (ha ha?) But yeah, I'll probably just end up giving the thing away.
Kena - I already tried with Kijiji - lots of people looking, no one replying. I've already dropped the prices on every item by two - three hundred dollars by now so, I think I'm out of luck there.

Hello all! Thanks for all the suggestions and advice. Amazingly, word of mouth brought the 72's attention to a good guy that lived in Guelph, and he bought the whole thing - to restore! It was an amazing stroke of luck that not only did I sell it, but that it wasn't to a scrapyard - it was to someone who will restore it. Thanks again for everyone's help!

It's all about connections. I was surprised when he told me it was a MACH 1.
