Wanted: Fuel Vapor system cover

Hello good people at CMOC.

I've been looking everywhere with no luck. Last winter, my rear sensors were so frozen over, they failed to kick in and I accidentally backed up onto something. It damaged the plastic covering for the Fuel Vapor system. The dealership suggested I look for the part at a junk yard, as it would cost $400+ to replace the whole system because the dealership can't sell me the cover separately... but I haven't had any luck.

So I turn to you. Any suggestions of where I can find one? Or where else I can look.

No help here, but personally, if I owned a 2014 and did the same thing, I'd pay the $400 to get it new, at least then I'd have a new part, no waiting. Another choice might be E-bay I suppose, but a lot of the times you'll pay just as much as new once the shipping, exchange and customs fees are added in. Worst case, if cash is tight and it's just a cover under the car and it's been a year already, what purpose does it serve anyway? Here's two I found on Ebay, you'd have to do some investigation to see if you're 100% getting what you wanted, but looks like what you want for about $350 to $400, depending, so refer back to my comment about just ordering from your local dealer or ignoring it. I'm guessing the cover is smashed beyond repair right, because even in these listings it looks like the cover is not separate, so you may have to suck it up and buy the whole thing if you want to replace it, although junkyard would be a better bet. Welcome by the way, good luck, post some pics of your ride when you get a chance .

I agree with AP, he has some good advice there.

He use to write an advice column called "Wild Advice" under his ghost name "The Mustang Stallion" But he quit when he went squirrelly. Now he gives good advice here on CMOC. He leaves no stone unturned until he finds the nut, err I mean the answer.

Thanks for the reply.

Doesnt seem like those ads arent selling the part I need, just the highlighted parts. I only need the plastic cover. And the $400 doesn't include the labor. That's only for the part. I can't afford that right now. I'd love to just ignore it, but the dealership actually sugessted I find the cover sooner rather than later, or I will have to replace the whole system

Well, that's a real Catch 22 situation you got yourself in then isn't it ? Don't pay the $400+ now, but if you don't, you'll have to pay it later down the road when the whole system needs replacement. Wowsers. Did the dealer say how long before it all goes bad, seeing as it's been a year already and nothing apparently has happened? Sounds like maybe they're suggesting doom to get the sale, maybe you should get a second opinion first, and keep looking for the cover by itself.
