5.4L Gt500 Vs 4.6L3v GT
well as some as u know in the forums i have been researching whether to do up my 4.6L and supercharge my gt or drop in a 5.0L and supercharge that. I and a friend on the weekend we at the local SVT dealer and after looking at a new 2012 with the hood up in the show room. He said this (u should put one of these in stead for there is no replacement for displacement, and its already supercharged). Now here is my question the Gt500 comes stock with most of the upgrades i want to put on my GT for example: supercharger, big brake kit, up graded suspension, 18 to 19" wheels and wide tires, cai, and if i remember right hust shifter just to name a few of the things i want to change on my GT.
:?Would i just be better off upgrading to a 2007 to 2009 GT500 i realize the GT500 would be stock, were if i did the 4.63vGT it would be a custom car, but with this day and age one has to look at what he wants and the cost of doing it and get the best value for there money. so any ideas, debate on pros or cons ether way would be helpful.:? |
Go for the GT500 dude. You got a stronger foundation to work with, it's crazy fast right out of the box, probably still be faster than a built GT with all the money spent on new parts and you already mentioned it's got all the stuff you want on it. Besides, hopped up GT's are a dime a dozen, but how many GT500's are out there? Good for re-sale if you ask me. If you can pull it off, why waste the money building a GT when you could go even faster with less work on the GT500???
A whole lot less headaches going with the 500 if you ask me.
Thanks for the info and I be giving lots of thought, but as it sits right now I'm leaning toward the gt500
Would be a nice upgrade.
Go with the GT500 and then slap a big Kenne Bell on it and blow the doors off anything on the road.
I'd go with the GT500 over modding a 4.6 GT for sure. It will cost you less in the end and it will hold it's value better.
I tend to thnk the 500 is engineered to handle hp more so than a stock 4.6/5.0

well i was at our local ford SVT dealer checking out GT500s, and fond out that ford is switching from a 5.4L to a 5.8L = 351 cubic inches for 2013 and its suppose to have 640 pony's. I also had the chance to check out a stock Boss and an Laguna Seca, i fond that for your money the Gt500 is the best value in my opinion. Well i figured out what color i want now. I just have to figure out what year i want to go with 07-09, or the new body with the 5.4 with the all aluminum 5.4L or should i start saving my penny's so to speck and get a 2013 with the supposed 5.8 with over 600 pony's.
O on a side note i had some very pore service From Capitol Ford In Regina, SK. I was there to look at and see about trading my 07 GT in on the used 2010 Gt500 they had in there show room. I was there for around 45 minuets looking at this car checking out and going threw the interior, engine compartment and trunk looking to see if there were any tell tales of an accident or if it was just brought in the province from some were else since there was a safety inspection sticker on the drivers door jam. Not once did a sales person walk up to me and ask what i was doing and if i needed any help and at that point i was fairly mad and stopped one of the many sales persons that were just walking around and told him i was very disappointed in there services and would never be back, i wish my story ended there but my friend that came with me that was out on there lot looking for a new truck to buy. HE could not get any service ether, and which is a shame for he is an old school Chevy guy that's looking to get his first ford truck. Well guys sorry for the rant, but had to get it out and let u know about some poor service and to avoid this dealer if your ever in that area. ON a very good note Bennett Dunlop Ford had very good service and even took the time to go threw several Gt500 with me being that they had 2011 and 2012 in all kinds of colors and set ups, the sales person was interested in the reasons and why i was looking at getting a GT500 over my 07 GT and with the reasons being all the upgrades on it that are stock and the fact i want a mustang with over 600 hp he suggested i what for the 2013 to come out, but was more then happy to sell me a 2011 or 2012 and then some upgrade for it to get it over 600hp lol |
Way to many choices out there in car land. I am sticking with my 09 as I am tired of eating depreciation year in year out for the last 25 years. As far as a daily driver I will still replace it on a regular basis but no more toys. My present toy ha been paid off for a while now and I do not want another payment on something I drive a total of 3-35 times a year. Just get something that will make you happy for many years to come.

well i thinking of trying to find a white 2009 GT500 for this coming spring, i think for the money i will get my best value this way as they should be some what plat-toed for pricing, then i can use what i saved for doing some mods and upgrades on it
I would go with the GT500.
Forged internals is huge, the motor's build for a SC. Also, with just a CAI and tune you can get substancial performance improvements (50+HP) over stock.:tup |
thanks for the input

I am finding prices on low mileage 500's re 2009's at roughly 40g's and these are on car lots
ya that is what iv been seeing as well, iv seen some 2010 going for around $50g
I will go with this story. When the GT500's first rolled off the assembly line the 07's went for approximately 80g's plus tax. They then flattened out to approx 50g's in 09 and now are back up to approx 68g tax in. Being a new car enthusiast I find that the prices of the 07-10's have hit bottom for now anyways. The reason I say this is from a low of 50 they have climbed back up to near 70 which helps used car values. Could very well be wrong lol

well i said good bye to my 2007 black gt, and said hello to a new 2012 race red gt, with 5.0L, 6 speed, bembro brake kit, track pack suspension, 373 diff, 19' rims with 255/40 tires, rear side window louvers and rear side scoops, rear pedestal spoiler and hood scoop. the only thing that is missing is a rear window louver and a supercharger. the rear window louver will most likely getting ordered in the middle of next month, and as for the supercharger im thinking a year or two down the road.

Sweeeeeet Ride. How do you like the 5 O?
its nice, still cant believe the difference in power over the 4.6L 3V being the 5.0L 32V is only .4L bigger.

Was messing around with an 08 3V-4.6 roush with the m90 supercharger on the weekend, and the 5.0 had no problems keeping up to it. I can't experess how much this new 5L impresses me

I will be driving a 82 Capri/351W, most of his cars are quick, if you like I will ask him what he has done to it.
sounds good its always good to know whats been done and how fast
K, I'll check it out, he says the car runs consistantly @ 11.90 - 12.10 with a tailwind best of 11.88. Somehow I think he will be faster when we meet.:tup
