The age old question has always been disputed: Which makes more power? Well, this too is a good question. Carb enthusiasts argue that carbs make more power over port injection because the fuel helps "cool" the intake manifold. If this were true, what about Throttle Body Injection? I have seen little evidence to prove that carbs out-perform port efi on identical engines and vice-versa in controlled conditions.

another factor would be the cost difference...

a carburetor just sits there. A typical EFI computer system can be programmed.. fuel delivery, manifold pressure,throttle postion,RPM's cooling temperture you can change shift points on a automatic tranny...


i dont know bang for the buck is always going to be a carb setup .


my personal opinion u can make some nice fast efi's but i would prefer a carb setup!

No doubt that carbed is cheaper and easier but EFI will give you a fire breather that you can live with every day in all weather ......................but like most things in life it's gonna cost ya.
I grew up and have rebuilt / tuned carbs most of my life but would never go back.

Carb is faster at the track. Shorter runners equals more top end power, allowing you to run a shorter gear. It is simpler to work with, all it takes is a jet change and some know how. But, its not convenient which is the good thiing about EFI. Everything is ALOT more expensive for an EFI car, you have to buy so much more to get similar performance. But, around town nothing beats a long runner EFI setup. Way more low end torque, its a more balanced and even powercurve, and it feels stronger. Theres alot you can do to EFI vehicles, but it will always cost you more. Personally, I prefer EFI (DFI) over carb because I dont just race my car at the track.
