I'm thinking i'll go with shortys as they seem to be easy to find used and can be installed with ease, I really just want to make her sound mean and take advantage of not having to do an emmission test
I had 3.73 in my 89 coupe and they worked great.

They flow better than the stockers but not as good as long tubes.

so would an amateur like myself be able to install longtubes?
does the motor need to be moved to fit them in?

no expert but on the 99 on up I hear they are a booger to install. I am sure someone will answer you quickly

It's much easier on a fox car than anything newer but it's still not a simple task.

They are a easy install on a fox, you will have to bypass your air pump tubes and plug it off at the back of the heads. 4:10's will give you what you want unless you have a blower

So no loosening of motor mounts?
I have a set of 4:10's in a parts car but im told that they are hard on the car and will make it hard to drive

You have losen the motor mounts and jack up the engine to install long tube headers, in some cases you have to remove the starter.
