new vortech for my 2008 4.0

well i went to sparta dragway on sat.for some test and tune.the track surface was awful and couldn't get any grip at all.that being said i ran 14.18 at 96.38 mph.my 60' times were 2.2-2.3 but i did manage one 2.0 slipping quite a bit.the tune is super rich on the topend about 10.5-10.8 a/f ratio.was using the stock pirellis and was getting wheelhop pretty bad.with a few suspension mods i will be in the 13's no problem.at present i have a 10psi pulley on it and that's what i am hitting.
with a new dyno tune and my intercooler with the 14 psi pulley i will be in the 12's.that is my goal.my custom manifold is working great also .no problems at all since day one.i will however be needing an 8.8 rearend with 3.73's in the future.

Dude,that looks so sweet!!!
With some seat time you should shave sometime off.
Good idea on an 8.8 diff.Add sticky tires to your list if you already don't have any.No matter what you try to do or what times you try to achieve, having a power adder, and wanting a gear like 3.73's.....street tires will not get you far.
I know right now that sparta isn't up to par yet,but even in the past a lot of guys with solid modded cars would complain about traction there while running a street tire, but yet the guys with slicks,or drag radials, and proper suspension seem to be hooking fine.
Street tires are fine for a stock car, that is it.

i raced my low 9second altered at sparta.had huge tires and suspension was perfect,i got better traction but the track is shitty at those speeds.i've got 20 years of seat time in a racecar.i have the 3.73's in the mustang already but will put the same ratio or maybe a 4.10 in the 8.8 when i get it.i got better traction on the road in front of the strip when i left than on the actual strip.no joking i launched it out front when leaving.nowhere near as much spinning.the track surface really is terrible.it needs alot of TLC!

Not disagreeing that it needs some tlc.Been going there every weekend in the summer minus rain days since i've been in the sport. And guys that run good tires, and suspension run awesome times is all i am saying.

well i guess it's all relative to what you consider great times i guess .i can't judge other peoples performance at st.thomas cause i don't know what they run at a track with better traction.i very rarely made an equal run with my altered at st thomas that i made at the bend.just sayin.it's hard for a fast car to get a full decent run at sparta.not arguing ,just the way i see it from my drivers seat.every car is different.by the end of july or august i hope it is in better shape.i like racing there cause it has shade trees and it has memories for me.some of the best may24 weekends ever.the bathrooms and the food have always sucked lol.i don't expect that to change any time soon.lol
