Great project!

SNAKEBITE 03-04-2011 07:21 PM

Holy moley that sounds impressive and way to technical for me lol

CRASH 03-04-2011 09:30 PM

Sounds like a real cool build, surprised ur gettin along with that 650, what times are you puttin down?

fast Ed 03-04-2011 09:32 PM

I had heard that those Sullivan intakes weren't so hot power-wise ... what sort of numbers are you getting from the combo? Interesting build!! :)

cheers

The Sullivan intake will make its power at 7000+ rpms. My motor will be seeing 8000 rpms at the track. No dyno pulls yet, we still have been breaking in the motor and trans on the rollers. Next week or so, we will do some 8000 rpm pulls for hp rwtq numbers N/A. No nitrous untill everything checks good and tuned on 104 octane fuel.

Phil 03-05-2011 09:13 AM

A couple Vids when we first fired up the motor up, I'm taking the vids. This was on 94 octane fuel at 18-20 degrees timming for initial break in only. Once the stainelss top rings seat and tuned on 104 octane fuel at 30-32 degrees timming, this motor will scream and rev quicker.

There you go ... good heads, might as well rev the hell out of the thing and make some real power! That must sound awesome at 8,000 rpm.

The heads were stage III cnc ported by Fox Lake Power Products (Ron Robart) and I port matched the kook headers to the exhaust ports on the heads. Made up a template using the factory old header gaskets. Will probably be going to a 750 dp, but for the street, the 650 has excellent low/mid range response.

SNAKEBITE 03-06-2011 01:12 PM

be a neat street machine for sure

Thanks! Once the salt is washed away from the streets, I will be driving it for the first time in over 3 yrs...:banghead: I live about 10 min from Quaker, Steak & Lube and they have Muscle car/Hot Rod shows every Sunday during spring/summer. I plan to take it there for sure!

Dual stainless nitrous purge. Bottles are low on nitrous!

Back in 2007 I was running high 10's on the factory Mach 1 long block with a 175 shot of nitrous. Of course I had built rear with 4.30 gears/spool a lot of weight reduction on Hoosier DOT drag tires.

My best time was 10.73 @ 128.63 mph at Norwalk, now Summit Motorsports Park.

Once I learn to drive it all over again, I hope to be running mid 10's N/A.. On the juice, in the mid 9's.. That is my goal.. And still drive it on the street!!!!!

Sick Mach, One hell of a project you have:tup

Thanks! I'm also planning for next year to have some type of custom paint job using the current zinc yellow with black..??

Hey Phil, did not know you were over here in this neck of the woods!

Great car, great build. Can't wait to see your times. See you on the Registry!

Greg.

SICK!!!I'm sure you will have no issues at all!
How do you like the 4.30's.This is one mod i keep tossing, and turning on.Got 4.10's right know, but i feel she could use a bump in the rear gear.My GT is cammed with the VT/Cushman stage II n/a cams, and full bolt on GT (minus headers) so i have room in to play.

I take it you have a 5 speed manual. I think you would be happier with a little more gear. Unless you like to cruise on the highway..

1low03gt 03-08-2011 07:57 PM

5 speed for sure, and part time highway,so it's no daily driver.I'll probably decide once i get the GT out this season.

1low03gt 03-09-2011 09:28 PM

From what i have read on various forums so far,not to many have been diappointed yet.So that is a positive.

Phil 03-09-2011 09:42 PM

Just make sure you have a shop or person that knows how to set up rear gears, the right way! Very important and I'm sure you already know this!

1low03gt 03-10-2011 09:04 PM

Oh yeah,i know this LOL!My GT has seen 3.73's to 4.10's,and maybe the 4.30's next LOL!I have heard that the 4.30's need an extra special care for install.

Phil 03-11-2011 12:00 PM

Thanks gentlemen!

Rear is a modified 8.8 that originally came with my Mach 1.

Welded axle tubes, Moser C-clip eliminators that I modified with arp bolts thru aluminum the blocks, CHE axle brace. Moser 4.30 lightened and mikronited gears, Moser 31 spline axles & spool. Arp carrier studs and Moser bearings. Pro launch II kit/upper adjustable control arms with stabilizer cross bar, Maximum Motorsports extreme duty lower control arms with adjustable spring perches, retaining the factory sway bar. Carbon fiber driveshaft.

Nice score gettin that package with the car. I have Strange C-clip elims, the right 1 is leakin a bit :( What did you do 2 "modify" ur Mosers & why? What kind of weld is that on the axle tubes?

1low03gt 03-13-2011 09:53 PM

The diff is looking a little bullit proof.
The CHE axle brace looks pretty solid!:tup

The rear was a factory 8.8 from my Mach 1 that we modified. I should have worded that different.

After cutting the ends of housing off, we used an axle seal pressed into the end with RTV. This is a good mod to stop leaking. The Moser C-clip eliminater come with studs threaded into the aluminum block ends. Not very strong when taking turns with a spool. I drilled out the 4 aluminum threads on each aluminum block and turned them into thru holes. Then used ARP high tensile bolt & nut to secure them to factory end plate. Which had to be modified for the Moser aluminum blocks to fit.

The weld is from a mig welder, not very pretty but has been holding up. The CHE axle brace is probably all I needed.

Thanks! I already tested it out back in 07 when running in the high tens and driving on the street. I'll soon see how it handles my new motor this year.

I like ur idea of using the seal, when I took mine apart 2 fix the leak I saw that the housing ends need a little attention, gaskets & seals are on order. thanx
Properly welding the housings can be a challenge.
