Rear view mirror.

The car is out of storage and all cleaned up, except every time I look in the rearview I see where the silver has started to seperate and it looks like a big fingerprint in the mirror. I need a new inside rearview mirror, 1986 LX, anyone? ....

do you HAVE to have a stock mirror? I was missing mine out of my 2000 stang. all I did was yank one out of a 07 focus (mirror and metal stud that sticks to windshield) for 5$... and my dealership put it on for free. it's actually better than the stock piece. and looks 100% better.

I haven't really even started looking at what might interchange and still look good, I was looking to stay original but I'm open to options.

I just went to the wrecker, and picked up an auto dimming mirror with the map lights built in. It's from a Lincoln Continental, but the wiring harness was easy to match up with existing wires in my 01 Mustang. It's a cheap and easy way to change something in your car, and adding functionality. Wrecker gave it to me for free. An idea for you...
