Ever thought of swapping to a splitport motor? I have a extra 2000 3.8 with about 50,000kms with a tranny laying around.

That would require a lot more then a basic swap would it not? Computers and wiring and such?

if you end up not going with a newer motor... what about just doing the splitport intake that quite a few ppl have done, that's the best bang for your buck upgrade from non split port -> splitport, easy to do when the motor isn't needed in your car either, there's lots of info out there for the swap, and a couple guys on the baord have done it

Well mine has a little play in one of the pistons (wrist pin is worn small for the whole) and therefore has a tick. So I basiaclly wanted a short block that I could rebuild and then use the other stuff from my engine. I really have no idea about split ports and such, anybody want to give me a link or shoot me an email on it. What I would need, how to do it...etc. It's not really about getting power from the engine, just having one that I feel comfortable with. Although if Splitport truly gives you a lot of bang for the buck and isn't that hard then it's worth looking into. Thanks

there is a far bit of power in a split port in a 99 and up if you have it apart its worth doing the swap. i don't know a lot about it but if you try the mustang v6 sites they can help you out from what i do know is the hardest part is the fuel system yu need to have a return line or something.
I don't know how much you want to rebuild but i have a 99 with 150,000 km on it the back 2 pistons one on the left one on the right rattle in the cylinder have pretty much the hole motor heads fuel rail

Its not that hard if you are mechanically handy. If you are seriously interested in doing it PM me.

Heres a list of the stuff you need.

List for 99+ split port swap.

99+ mustang v6 heads
99+ v6 mustang lower intake
99+ mustang v6 upper intake
99+ mustang EGR tube and valve ( YOU CAN DELETE THE EGR if you want to )
TPS sensor for TB (1-CX-1488 from Ford) if not already on TB
99+ TB
Modified fuel rail that has a universal fuel pressure regulator, and a return line. (windstar fuel rails)
Accelerator Bracket (F4SZ-9728-B) if not already included on upper intake --
Throttle cable from 99+ mustang v6
99+ mustang v6 coil pack and wires
99+ mustang CAI kit
99+ mustang cooling hoses
94 headers
Will have to wire IAC to old wiring. Lengthen wiring to a few injectors..
rad fluid, oil, filter, new spark plugs
WELD IMRC (If your motor/heads has this I think its the 01 and up not completely sure though)

If you want to change your hood to a higher height you can even put a windstar upper intake on it which flows way better than the mustang upper.
