Im just here to help! ;) |
Sorry but eclipse is . You want high end but alpine. I never said that high voltage pre outs would blow your speakers. They can over your factory amps that are in the doors though. Distortion will kill speakers before voltage will. The circuitry is on average not designed with high voltage in mind. Yes the factory wire isn't the best but putting in lower gauge wire does not improve sound quality. And the manufacturers have tested their products to provide those rms numbers and they are not bullshit. For example JL audio is notorious for under rating their speakers. On the box is the Max power rating. Max Power is the bullshit number that they use to make it seem like their is more power than there is. And I have also been installing stereos in ALL of mine and my friends cars since the age of 16. My stereo is so loud it will make your ears hurt while sounding great. If you can't make a stereo sound great with a good head unit, aftermarket speakers and a sub and an amp then you don't know . If you think that you need a couple amps and to rewire everything....go ahead but you just spent twice what you needed to.

You did re-iterate my point though. Factory amps can get "fucked" and they are not designed with high voltage in mind WHICH IS WHY I RECOMMENDED DOING IT RIGHT, SPENDING A LITTLE MORE AND INSTALLING A REAL AFTERMARKET STEREO (amp, SU, drivers). If you still don't follow, that recommendation would include scrapping the factory amps and therefore eliminating the problem that you keep alluding to. If you'd like I can also post a diagram because Im getting tired of typing the same thing over and over.

Get a life loser, all I was saying to the guy was that if he was going to go to the trouble of installing a deck he should just do a whole system and enjoy the better sound quality. Good luck with the bleeding ears! |
I think its funny that douche bags like you take all that time to pick apart over someones opinion on the internet. Sorry If I wrote "but" instead of "buy" does a spelling mistake really matter. If your ego needs you to bag on people just so you can keep your chin up than you might need some help. What year mustang do you have??? What do you got installed????? Or do you just talk on what to install but you don't have jack yourself? I have a pioneer head unit and apline sub, speakers and amp. It seems to me like your being the know it all and not me.

lol
Don't worry about what I have buddy. I'm not here to compare d**ks with some nimrod. You can be sure though, that I have more than your basic set up in each of my rides... |
Wow -I missed this little exchange.
Hey SNAKEBITE - where you at with your "bitter attitude" comments now? These two guys are getting into the hurt feelings, bruised egos and name calling already. I gotta start taking "how to" notes!!! Seriously guys, not sure what all the fuss is about. I'm not a big audiophile anyway, so I don't really pay attention too much to what you're arguing about (with the exception of the chest thumping and name calling) Gimme the sound of dual exhaust and smoking tires anytime. But, it has been entertaining. Since you're both in Ontario, maybe you need to meet up in person and discuss over a cup of Tim Horton's crappiest - I suspect the outcome might be different. Key statement in the whole exchange was "internet forum". Argue your points, be passionate about your beliefs, but jeez, not worth it to get all huffy. My two cents - please feel free to tell me to f@%* off, but do it nicely -this isn't The Den, and thus is subject to closer scrutiny by the Moderators. (hint hint) Incidentally, my Shaker500 works pretty good! |
Hey guys thanks for all the info. Didn't mean to start a fecal-throwing fest but anywho...is 2k a reasonable budget for a stereo upgrade with all HU, amp and speakers? I've done some perusing of East Hamilton Radio and they have some great products - those that can vary in pricing bigtime. Any place in particular you guys would recommend for buying the HU, amp and speakers?

If you ever travel east to Mississauga there are a handful of good shops there too... |
