What about 87 hand coats of polish and wax in 26 months. At this point is it still inconsistent and uneven. How many buffing pads do you use for a polish or wax job. I don't think I have anyone ever comment that my paint looks inconsistent or uneven, and I live across the street from a body shop.

87 Coats of anything is just a waste of time. Unless you simply enjoy rubbing the car? (Your secret fantasies are safe with us! LOL). At your rate your products are only getting 9 days. If you feel the appearance of your waxes are dimininshing after 9 days then you need to find a better product. There are products out there tht last 9 months! I use about three pads on a Swirl/polish/wax job. The pads are re-usable and last years. Not saying it’s not possible to get good results by hand. Many think hand application is safer than machine. Fact is that when you are holding a pad, each finger applies different pressure, the speed in which you buff varies, your pattern is also different etc. By the sounds of it you are just waxing anyway so you will likely be fine. Any type of swirl removal or polishing (real polishes contain abrasives) I do not recommend pulling out the hand.

It's an army thing. Polish the parade boots EVERY day whether they need it or not. I have no doubt that the Meguires NXT Generation lasts longer than 9 days but old habits die hard. I had an orbital buffer that I used on the 82 Grand Prix (350 coats-9 years) but with such a small head surface ( 12" ) I needed multiple pads due to the contamination, wax build up on the pad etc. The new Gt (5 months old) only received 22 coats of paint cleaner, polish and wax this summer. I use strictly Meguires products. I use top quality thick cotton towels and on average for 1 application of polish/wax I will use 4-5 towels. The towels are folded in 3 and are turned constantly. 1 towel is used for the roof and hood, 1 for the trunk and bumpers 1 each for the sides of the car. I also use 1 towel for the rims which are coated with every polish/wax job. My poor wife is forever putting towels in the washing machine, oh well. I also find the hand method to be much quicker than when by done by machine. After 650ish coats over the years I am most efficient in my humble opinion. Hey I just thought of something. When using a buffer you would also have inconsistencies keeping in mind that it's impossible to keep even pressure on the handles of the buffer throughout the job.

What ever works best for you is all that matters. If you wax so often than any product will do. Personally if I were you I would either use a Carnauba Paste wax (Durability sucks but looks great!) or use NXT topped with a Carnauba. I love the carnauba look but hate the 2-3 week life of them.

In fact, I did!

I ordered the pad kit with backing plate with an extra white pad, 3 towels, Optimum compound & polish and Wolfgang sealant. All from our fine sponsor eShine.ca.

I'm very impressed with the service from eShine and I'm not saying that because they advertise here. My order was shipped the same day I paid for it and I couldn't be happier with the products.

Thanks Steve! I should have looked there. I have purchased from them before. The service is quick!

Don't forget the discount code! Just placed my order and the kit is on sale!

Here's a great article on how to use your polisher:

Cheers.
