.and a few inexpensive caps/covers here and there with a good detail is totally cool
At the last show, we had several cars scratched by spectaters letting their purses hit the cars when looking in and the zippers putting sctraches in the paint..if I remember correctly, one car had quite the gouge. Back a bunch of years ago, I was showing my mgbgt at a night before party and one of the contestants slipped and fell on my left front fender. He was wearing a large belt buckle and he put a 14 inch gouge in my fender. What I did at the show was to tape the car's particulars over that gouge. At the mustang show last year, I was about 30 feet from my car talking to another car owner when I hear a guy say that he hated side pipes and he actually kicked my car !..he saw me coming and dissapeared into the crowd quite quickly..no damage done but it was a "wtf" coment from the contestants around me car. I now know better to stand closer and I now understand why most contestanrs come with lawn chairs :) Anyway, looking forward to some advice. Thanks Grassy |

I am new to american car shows..and obiviously new to the mustang marque. I would really appreciate it if you, as a judge, could recomend a few upgrades that would make my (and anyone else of course) engine bay better ?

Thanks Grassy might be worthwhile to talk with your show organisers and get a PA system to remind folks to stay back from the cars MGB GT?....nice:tup you'd like my 1990 Morgan +8:chacha: with regard to making your engine bay better (aside from properly detailing it)...you should search the likes of the Steeda site, UPR etc....look under the engine dress-up sections....tons of stuff....go to the MustangWorld.com picture section of the 05+ on the main page and lurk through all the pics of what guys have done (they usually list the mods and then you're just a google away)....the list of stuff available is endless, from polished blowers to oil caps and fuse box covers my engine bay started off looking like this http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/141/140/266015.jpeg then I came up with a plan and ended up like this....keep in mind this took over 4 years and I'm still doing stuff http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/141/140/251162.jpg the CAI tube has the name of the car airbrushed on it http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/141/140/181027.jpg the underside of the hood has a running pony ghosted in http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/141/140/187270.jpg the mods started as simple bolt-ons and then you get to a stage where nobody makes what you want so you get it done custom (the master-cylinder is a Ford factory piece that I had polished....and the reservoir cover was custom fabbed) but most of the ideas are nothing new....just "borrowed" from others and where appropriate I put my own twist on it.......I'm pretty simple....always been a fan of a hot rod with a shiny motor....so that's what I did |
All I can say is Wow !!!!!!! and wow..
however, this does give me a starting point. I do have a long way to go. No matter, I like goals. First the Cragars. I did ask the organizers about a nive rope system that would protect the cars but they thought it would drive off spectators.. What part of Ontario are you from ? I mak the pilgramage to Gan on a regular basis. If the rest of your friends do their cars uop like this, I would love to see a show. BTW, I found an excellent set of rims/tires seciond hand in the states..cannot figure out how to get them here without selling my daughter. Grassy |

I won't judge a car that doesn't have it's hood open....if buddy's lambo-doored-glued-on-exhaust deal had it's hood down I'd walk right by
don't care if the engine bay is bone stock or modded to hell and back, if the owner took the care and time to detail the bay then he/she gets full props from me...if the hood is closed then I assume it's not presentable and I move on IMO you don't need to have thousands spent under the hood to present the engine bay....the modern stang bays are a nice sight in stock form....and a few inexpensive caps/covers here and there with a good detail is totally cool and some folks who show their cars wanna keep them bone stock....nothing wrong with that..... the oddest thing I've seen was when a few of us Stangs attended a show put on by an exhaust shop....and there was this guy with a Sunfire (I think...mighta been a Cavalier)....he was apparently the guy to beat, he had all his friends there talkin up his "show car"......I wish I had a pic because the guys idea of presenting the engine bay included putting a huge stuffed animal on top of the engine.....you couldn't even see the motor:laughhard now that dude should kept his hood shut:biggrin: |
Just looking at some clear blinker plastic and I found lambo doors for all year :)
My son said that they don't flip right..he wants them to look like a merc 300..oh well :) Grassy |
